Have you checked the event log on your machine to see if you're getting any hardware reported issues or corruption ?

I've Been through 3 Asus Rampage V extremes now . First one lasted say 3 months , Second one was the 12GB out of 16GB issue and 3rd one works...

As far as windows 10 goes .... I could well be an issue directly with the OS and potentially the x99 platform but its unlikely ...

Windows 10 is much a common denominator as the hardware.

I know many are having the same issues as well , what BIOS are you using and do you get the issues if you manuall set the RAM settings in the BIOS and run everything else at stock ?

I have not checked for logs.

Well, with the X99 Deluxe I tried everything - setting everthing manually, increase system agent voltage, ram voltage, everything on auto, only a few things on auto.
With the rampage I did set the memory manually and then I got the crash and wrong memory size again. I then proceeded to set the system with only 16GB and everything on auto.

Not that I'm saying this is what happened to your CPU. But it is something similar to what is happening to other people. And of course, update to the latest bios.

I don't know what is wrong with the asus boards but I think that there are just too many users having issues with their X99 .
Like ive said, I never had a single problem with the AsRock board that happens to be a much less expensive board.

Hmm its defiantly a running issue on the X99 platform ... Maybe I'll check out another motherboard if this gone pop again.

There is a new BIOS coming out for them now .. The deluxe I think has just had the new release for the USB 3.1 version .

Maybe that will solve some issues .

UPDATE

So no idea if anyone is still reading this but my CPU after being sent to the reseller the first time has come back with some gold missing of the contact on the CPU...

Now not sure if this was pre being sent .. so damaged by the motherboard of damaged by some shoddy technician over at the re seller ...

Refunded for the CPU and new one will be here next week ! so system will be back up and running. Hopefully I can get at least 4.5Ghz out of this chip .

Seems some good new O.C with lower volts on the new bios
