Overdue Upgrade

Thread Starter
I decided to upgrade my dads old ****ty dell GX520 which I got him about 6 years ago for xmas. He had stopped using it due it being ultra slow. Anyways, DDR2 upgrade went well SSD upgrade went well now for the graphics card.

Stupid me brought A PCI-E low profile card off eBay, but needed a standard low profile PCI card. Other than paying £60 off eBay I can't find one. 2 questions

What's the highest VRAM these cards go up too?
And anyone got a spare floating about?

256mb will do as the machine (if you can call it that) using 8mb shared. My very first PC was more than that 12 years ago..

Any help would be appreciated

Are you saying that you need a PCI video card and not a PCI express? I haven't seen one in many years, but they may still be around. There may be a server specific one for a low profile card. I doubt many people here have ever even seen such a thing. At this point you should really be looking at a new platform and a new motherboard.

This is probably your best bet if you're willing to spend a couple dollars on it.

Honestly though, for about 200-300 you can just build him a new PC that could run Windows 10.

Edit: Also, what OS is it running now?
Doesn't suck

Thanx for the replies. That card you linked was a full height, I needed half height. But thanx anyway. Ive scrapped doing it up for him. The cards are way to pricey for the gain he'll get. I'm gonna build him a cheap AMD A10 system.

Oh jeeze i completely forgot about that. I even found one on Newegg.ca first then forgot about it when i went to the american one.

Building a new system is the best route though i think.
