Any recent, cheap IPS monitor at 1080p @ 24" worth buying?

I have a dilemma - I can play most games I play at 1080p at maxed out settings and AA and be happy with the framerates, well above my comfort range of around 60 fps for racing sims and 45 fps for anything else. The only exception I can think of is ARK, where my framerate at the same resolution with mostly LOW settings (high draw distance though) are already getting horridly low quite often, though normally they hover around 30 FPS. (HD7950 Boost / R9 280 at 1040/1620 MHz).

This raises a question for me that I am too afraid to answer, myself.. Is it worth to even get a (27") 1440p IPS monitor right now, given the fact that my PC probably will have issues in a tiny part of the games I have?
I do want such a type of panel for the color accuracy and viewing angle, but it'll be the first time I've bought a new monitor since I bought this Samsung 2494HS in 2009. As such I have not a clue for where to start looking or anything..
My main concern, sadly, is the monetary aspect; I only bought the 2494HS back then because it didn't cost me much (€226.94 to be precise!) and I do not intend on spending anything crazy on a monitor this time, either. Perhaps if something is extremely worthwhile I could stretch my budget to 300 euros this time but that's the absolute high limit.

Because of this, I've also been contemplating a 24" 1080p IPS monitor. Same tech, same everything as any other IPS monitor, just the same screen size as my current one.
This causes me to feel that it'd be a bit of a waste if I look forward another few years; the likelyhood of another system upgrade grows with every year that passes..

I am not able to get out of this dilemma; it's been over 10 months since I started thinking about this. rolleyes.gif
