Can't see the differences in 4K Monitors

Hey Everyone, I'm wanting to pull the trigger on a New Korean 4K Monitor. But I'm not sure between two of them,

1. AMH A409 U or, the Crossover 404K Final, Price difference is not a big deal. I'm not a gamer, I will use it for High Megapixel Photos, Graphic Design and 4K Video Editing. I have just ordered a pretty good new system to build. so for me the final piece is the Monitor. I sent Green-Sum an email asking what he thought about both of the listed monitors here, and he was not much help, but said that many people were buying the Crossover 404K Final, and that the AMH was a brand new monitor. If there are any crossover and AMH owners please chime in! thumb.gif

The 40" 4k monitors have non-standard sized pixels which stretch the image by 2%, so you should not be using one for work. No one has properly tested* any of the large Korean VA monitors, so no one can properly explain the differences. So far I am the only one to properly test one of the large Korean IPS monitors, the Crossover 434K (IPS), but I'm not allowed to link to my review here, and the Sony version (43X830C; Rtings review) has more accurate colours than the Korean versions.

*Tested with an accurate colorimeter, accurate lag measurement, ect...

404K Final and A409 likely use the same panel and scaler, so differences will come down to OSD, housing, firmware support for freesync...

The panel in the Phillips BDM4065uc has been "properly tested" and was the same in the 404k pre-final/ A399, and that has a serious issue with blue saturation that calibration cannot fully correct. I have a 404k pre-final and the blue has to be turned down to 80% or lower, even then the blue band on the lagom contrast test does not match up in intensity with the other bands, tomshardware review goes into more detail about the blue issues. Entertainment looks great to me but I would worry about it if I was creating graphic content.

The 404k final/a409 panel looks extremely similar on paper, but has at least an updated scalar (adding 2 1.4 HDMI ports, hue/saturation option, FRC for 10-bit emulation, and possibly freesync.), so its possible they improved the color issues, but in the absence of information I wouldn't bet on it.

For graphic work you should look into IPS monitor anyway, as aside from the off colors and mild stretching, VA viewing angles are a noticable issue at this size when placed on a desk, the corners are gamma shifted, as well as up/down depending on where you center in vertically. MenacingTuba mentioned two good IPS options, I think there are some IPS Samsung TVs as well to consider, albeit those have PWM?

I also wonder if you have programs that can benefit from a true 10-bit display? The VA panels you were looking at only support FRC emulation, perhaps a 4K TV will support it with expanded color gamut or what not?
