As far as I know you still need to use Windows Update to register your PC for Windows 10.
- Makes sure your fresh install of Win7 has been activated online.
- Perform Windows Update. You will basically need to bring your Win7 install up-to-date with patches before the GWX (Get Windows Ten) app will install and register your free upgrade eligibility.
- After GXW registers your PC as eligible for Win10, it will prompt to download and install Win10. Alternatively you can download and create a Win10 DVD or bootable usb using the WIndows 10 Media Creation Tool if you would rather install Win10 that way.
You can do a clean install Win10 with DVD or USB device but if GWX never registered your previous software key &hardware profile on the MS servers then you wont be able to activate Win10.Edited by BinaryDemon - 11/4/15 at 12:31pm
