Is it possible to fool sites into thinking ads are not blocked, even though they are?

There is this interesting article here at the top that talks about how ad-blocking prevents sites from receiving revenue for posting those ads. Now, I get it, I support Guru3D and many other sites that depend on ads, BUT it also made me think - what if ad-blockers could fool sites into thinking that their ads are NOT blocked, even though they would be? Maybe some kind of invisible overlay that hides ads, while someone still loading them in the background or making them think that they aren't blocked?

At the same time, I would not actually want to visit those sites I support if they were to include ads, which I find extremely annoying and polluting to my brain.

The site is getting paid to show ads, if they "hide" them, why should they get paid?

Sounds possible, although you would not get any of the bandwidth savings.

Just allow ads on the sites that you support.

otherwise....divert your eyes or deal with seeing an extra picture or two

Some sites block content if they detect you are running adblocking software. This would be helpful in such cases, instead of seeing an add you would see a black screen for the duration of the add.

No, the sites would not hide them - browser ad-blockers would, BUT do it in a manner that would not alert sites about you blocking ads. The sites would think that you see the ads, even though you wouldn't.

Not an option. Ads are a pollution and something like Guru3D would force me to disable my uBlock Origin ad-blocker, then I would simply stop visiting and supporting the site. So, if there are no ads - I support the site, but if there are - I don't.

Besides, smart ad makers know how to get past all ad-blockers and show their ads as if it were a part of the site being visited.

I would rather see a black screen than an add - that is for sure.

yes and it's quite simple.

pfsense with pfblocker and squid, just block the offendng urls.

it's transparent to the user and the browser has no idea.

and the website is none the wiser.

there are how to's everywhere.
