The Nexus 6p is a Joke! Bend Test - Scratch Test - Burn Test - Page 8

I feel much better about buying this phone now. I really would prefer a Note 5 but the carrier bloatware (not complaining about Samsung's) frightens me and I am not willing to root and flash it until it is off warranty.

I think the real thing to take away from the video is how easily the glass cracked after being scratched. The bending issue is obviously from the broken glass and to be expected since the glass has to be a structural piece in phones like this. Either the glass in his phone was not up to par or GG4 has a cracking issue once scratched. I am more concerned about GG4 than the Nexus 6p since GG4 will be on most of the higher end phones coming out. Maybe the engineering behind making it withstand drops so well leaves it vulnerable to cracking once it is scratched up pretty good.

All these bend tests are retarded. Why don't they do an actual test with a calculated PSI applied? There's no way to tell how much force in lbs/kg/etc applied with your hands. Plus, all these tests are done with the same phone, when there could already be compromised durability. They need to conduct each test with a new device, so you get a valid metric from a baseline "new" phone.

Did you know that yo git glass you actually scratch the surface. There is no way to get those scratches in the glass. If you are worried geta screen protector.

I think it would be interesting to see a phone come out with a polycarbonate glass piece (bulletproof glass) instead of regular glass over the LCD panel. Sure it would cost more, but the profit margin is already huge and selling these phones for $650+ (ok, well the Nexus 6p is a bit cheaper) is plenty expensive to justify having a better display protection.

  • Who actively tries to burn their phone?
  • Who takes a stanley blade to it?
  • Only bad thing is the bend test, far too easy to break it.

Shh, that fact seems to be lost upon many users' heads in this thread. The point about that original video isn't that it is a whole "bendgate". It is that the screen's glass cover is completely integral to the structural integrity of the phone. And if compromised, the phone is darn near as weak as paper. And I can say with how many broken screen iPhones that I see all around (and other phones too), it is only a matter of time.

Huawei could've designed that phone to where the screen wasn't basically the entire phone's structure. But they cheaped out. That should be the takeaway.
