Need a dust free room

Thread Starter
I am dusting all the bits of my PC here after nearly 3 years of unkempt dust collecting. My case does not have any dust filters. It could probably use them to keep the important parts clean, but the commercially available ones mostly suck so I'd have to fabricate my own.

But ... if only there was a better way. smile.gif Can't we eliminate dust at the source. If there was some sort of anti dust tent I could cover the PC with I'd be open to that. Or some sort of vaccummer unit.

Anyone here put effort into this problem and reduced or eliminated dust in the house?

I believe it is dust mite terds right? That's disgusting. Get these mites out of here. Burn them.

Short of wearing a full airtight suit, and having a Hepa filtration system, there isn't much you can do.There are ways to minimize it (filtration), but in a residential setting its pretty much impossible to eliminate completely. There are many options available for filters, here is one site that has options http://www.demcifilter.com/.

Dust isn't comprised of mites, mites are what feed off of dead skin cells from humans and animals. Dust is comprised of dead skin cells, dirt, dander, hair, fibers, particulates that have settled etc.

At what point is it viable to say you've seen everything?

it's actually a very practical solution that i'm surprised that it took so long to become reality. and Silverstone was the only one willing to take the giant leap forward to combine the 2 concepts together. (maybe one of the higher ups in Silverstone have allergies or have some respiratory illness? ) the idea came to me back in school where i had a roommate that was deathly allergic. he literally had to run air purifier in his room 24/7 just so he doesn't have to be drugged up all the time. if you've ever seen the air purifier running, even at low speeds, those suckers put out some pretty serious CFM smile.gif so i kinda thought, why haven't any one put a computer inside one of those air purifiers? biggrin.gif and long and behold 20 years later..... Silverstone puts out the MM01 biggrin.gif

personally i would have done it in a variation of the FT02 / TJ11 chassis and went with blower style fans for the increased static pressure. but i guess the AP182 does the job well enough in their testing /shrug. definitely would have preferred it in a rotated mobo design case tho :/

bolt that sucker to the front of your case and you won't have to worry about buying intake fans for your computer biggrin.gif

Dust is natural, it comes from human skin, cloth fibers and more. Youre not really going to get rid of the dust in your house. And putting your system in a dust proof tend or enclosure is only going to cost a bunch of money. If you only care about keeping your PC dust free, then yeah, you have to use filters. You can sort of keep your house dust free with a ton of vacuuming and hepa filter systems running 24/7
