Went through 4 x 290/290x all coil buzz/whine, sensitive to whine what to do?

2 sapphire 290 ref
1 msi tf 290x
1 diamond ref

I admit I am too sensitive to this, the whine barely go on top of the msi tf fan noise, but I am going water on it so it is going to be top on everything.
what can I do, keep rolling till newegg ban me? Any card known to not buzzzzzzz under load, a or n?

Do you hear it when the FPS are high? Or all the time? (when do you hear it?)
Got 1x R9 290X gigabyte & 2x R9 290 gigabyte, never had any issue.
I have a custom cooler and if the 4 pins fans are plugged to the board, it does a high frequency noise (quite subtle).
I think it is caused by the PWM because when I set the fan speed at 100%, I cannot hear it (and it's not because of the fan noise).
When plugged to the motherboard, no high freq noise either.

Quite interesting here:

Sometimes it's just the luck of the draw, othertimes well.. There could be more to the whine than just the video card, possibly even ways of getting rid of it.

I've searched around and also found some people claim the whine is primarily due to an incorrectly sealed cap, and that non-conductive silicon could solve the problem, but that would require you to find where precisely and make a big mess.

I actually is testing using 2 set of board and psu now, to me they are not high frequency, more a buzz. The new 290 just back form newegg do a dadada sound.
I just read that article as well, I guess ref design just don't play well on this.

The gpu on this is mainly for madvr, so 290x naturally is prefer for the opencl and the cost/per.

I think madvr is pretty real life.

It is different sound than high fps squeal, (which this saphhire card is doing now in mho benchmark menu or Catzilla loading), the low frequency buzz or click blend with fan noise rather well.not so if I go water.

Edit: hmm I will let the msi 290x tf and this ref 290x squeal in a menu for tomorrow whole day while I am out and see if the low frequency buzz/click remains.

But google is saying every model have whine, regardless of brand/cooler..

ofc, if I have a unlimited budget, but then I wont be looking at 290/290x

like accs said, it's like luck of the draw. every brand will have. i have a ref 290 msi and a ref 290 gigabyte (supposedly mining card) . . . no whine on both. now, when i applied +200 on them . . . yah i heard an electrical noise.

some whine are caused by a bad psu.
