Hey y'all. I'm not too "techy" but I was hoping some may advise me on a new ultra wide monitor choice. I'm choosing between the Acer X34 (21:9, 3440x1440, IPS, 1000:1 contrast, 100hz)and the Acer Z35 (21:9, 2560x1080, VA, 3000:1 contrast, 200hz). The most obvious advantage to the Z35 1080p would be that I may not need to upgrade from my gtx 970; I believe it would reduce my fps by somewhere around 30% whereas going to 1440p at that aspect ratio would require a single 980ti minimally I'm thinking. Anyway, the crux of what I want to ask is this: I've read that a VA panel's superior contrast can compete with the IQ/pixel density of higher res monitors so...could it be more advantageous to run this lower res, faster refresh VA panel? Lastly, I know very little about Nvidia super sampling (DSR I think?) but would that also help IQ with this lower res monitor? I also assume FPS would dip with DSR. Though these 2 monitors are close in price, I could potentially get away without needing to upgrade my gpu if I went with the Z35. This is all luxury expense, but in this day and age, taking a frugal yet competitive option is appealing to me. Any pointers much appreciated, thanks smile.gif
