Fresh new build... Software suggestions

Thread Starter
I will be finishing my build Tuesday . Specs are X99, 5820k, EK predator 360, Dom platinum 3000 C15, AX860i, Gigabyte 980Ti G1 and 2 Corsair Neutron XT 250GB SSD's..

I will be installing Windows 10 Pro, and was wondering what software/programs everyone recommends me install. Basically anything handy

Thanks in advance smile.gif

Your bottom fan is mounted the wrong way it should be sucking air in from the bottom not blowing out.

I reccommend VLC Media player for videos, AIMP3 for music, and a registry trick to re-enable windows photo viewer instead of having to use the crappy photo app. You can try looking for them on google or I can upload them tomorrow.

Theres also another few registry fixes that allows for disabling windows defender so it wont interfer with avast if you choose to use that. Malwarebytes is also a good one and for general cleaning check out CCleaner.

If you want to control when windows updates, go to control panel > administrative tools > services > windows update > disable, just enable it again when you feel like receiving updates. That is if the pro copies allow native disabling of updates, I forgot if they do.

Ok this is what i was looking for. i will do it. Ive always used Malware-Bytes, and Adaware on all my computers with no issues. is that sufficient enough as a virus protection program or do i need more security?

We can answer that question if you answer this one.
How secure do you want to be?

Oh, thnx for the tip about the photo viewer! I much prefer the win7 photo viewer to the (cr)apptastic win10 thing.

Yep same here, when I originally did the upgrade from Win7 to 10 it was still there, but when I did a clean install of 10 it disappeared and after using the photo app for less than two days I became sick of it. When I get home I'm gonna zip up and upload all the windows 10 reg files and programs I have that I use to improve windows 10, at least for me.

I disagree no bottom filter so it would be sucking in dust . also if he has 4 intake fans he needs at least 2 exhausting

My front 2 140mm fans are intake... Rear 140 exhaust. Top 3 rad fan are exhaust/pull and bottom is push... I do wish I could get my bottom fan to pull
