Is it bad for water remain in Pump/res???

Hey guys, I'm waiting for rest of my system parts to come in and about 2 weeks ago I tested my Water Pump/Res combo with some distilled water and I tried to clean the pump and flush it as much as possible but I feel maybe few drops of water remained in it for past 2 weeks, is is bad? should I be worried?

LOL...

I've left totally filled whole systems in storage for years with no problems what so ever.

it would be a lot worse if you had tried to dry out the last drops by blowing into the pump.
The air inside your lungs isn't exactly dry, and since it passes through your mouth it carries some saliva with it... which is rife with potential life .. any moisture left in the pump/res would be an ideal breeding ground to become a Primordial soup smile.gif

So yeah, unless you got extremely unlucky, it doesn't harm. Nevertheless, run a flush prior to reassembling the loop.

Cool, I have 2 more questions,

1. How do I prepare my new 360mm Radiator? should I just rinse it with distilled water few times? or use my air compressor and blow it? or use both?

2. I have the EK-Supremacy EVO and I was wondering if it's ok to rotate it 180 degree so the inlet is on the right side and outlet is on the left?

Some compressors have oiled lines and if the you have does I would suggest not to use it.

1. rad-dance depends largely on the make and model. Alphacools are notorious for being "dirty", Phobya's also tend to be dirty (same OEM). Aquacomputer AMS & Watercool HTFS are extremely clean (by design) and only need a dust flush.
But in general :
- 10% white vinegar or a (small) teaspoon of citric acid in near boiling (tap) water and pour the mixture into the rad..
- let sit for 10 minutes or so (until you no longer burn yourself on the rad)
- shake vigorously
- empty
- repeat 2x or 3x times (or more -until there is no longer gunk coming out)

- fill with (new/fresh)distilled
- shake
- empty
- repeat a few times (till it no longer smells of vinegar)

2. optimum block orientation depends largely on the make/model of the CPU chip, although it doesn't make that much of a difference.
Several tests have been done, but I don't have the link & whom at the top of my head. But if you search this board fro Supremacy EVO orientation, you probably find something like "10 blocks tested" smile.gif

It depends what pump models you are talking about. If you leave small amounts of water in the Laing Hemi (D5 or DDC) pumps you will most likely get some surface rust on the metal parts. It is stainless steel though and cleans up easily. Other pumps have all plastic or ceramic parts in contact with the water so no problems there.
