"Over-ambitious"

The day you are proved wrong will be a great day indeed!

No wait, you're already being proved wrong:

You mean by anonymous sources from a website where any random person can say they are anyone? Those complaints? wink.gif

Hence the crowdfunding. A lot (over a million) of people want this game made. Also, no publisher would have ever agreed to fund this behemoth so crowdfunding was actually the only way this game would ever be made.

This gets me. The motor car was once considered over-ambitious. Flight was too. So was space travel. So was Half-Life 1 & 2. The thing is its only considered too ambitious if its never been done before, but if anyone can pull this off its Chris Roberts and his team.

Over 1 million backers have given the project over $94 million dollars. That's over $94 each. I don't think lack of interest will be an issue.....

When the new version of the CryEngine is released they implement it to their game. DX12 and Vulkan haven't been implemented yet (I believe F42 Frankfurt are working on this). Also, have you even noticed that the Kickstarter video has far inferior graphics to the current playable build? The graphics are constantly being improved upon.

There are a million bug testers at the moment. A MILLION. It is literally the MOST bug-tested game in development today. biggrin.gif

Backers != testers. "I get glitches in the hanger" is not a bug report.

True, but that is why there is now something called an "Issue Council" on the official website. Its dedicated to proper bug reporting.

I get a solid 60fps with a frame rate cap in the hangar, 1440p. ~90-110 with the frame cap off and 99% GPU usage. The real need for optimization is in large multiplayer dogfights, where FPS can tank below 30. That is not good.

Why is the data capped at 61-62 FPS? This isn't a hardware comparison, because the hardware isn't the limiting factor.
Or maybe its because the hangar is regulated to 60fps?

Seems like games can just label themselves as an alpha and get away with being incomplete. 1.0 used to mean a game was in its final complete form, now all of that is just thrown out the window and games are releasing as alphas, and staying as such for an indefinite amount of time. Looking at you DayZ.

They're "benchmarking" something that hasn't really been improved since day one. They failed to mention which ships were in the hangar etc.

There's a bigger issue in their "benchmark" because they didn't include a Fury X but had a Titan X, didn't do any motion testing like "holding down the turn left key at the load in point" or anything else.

So the game is limited to 60fps and the Titan-X is making 62 frames... sounds like inflated frame numbers to me.

I do get well above 60fps in the hangar. Or am I missing something?
