Advice on case lighting?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, i just got this case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353067
And im looking to put some more fancy lighting in it.

Basically my big thing is that this is for an older build, and my motherboard is a god awful gold-brown color, close to vomit colored. So i feel like blue lighting would do a good job of drowning that out, but i dont really just want the stereotypical blinding blue cathdoes if i can help it, though ill do that if i must. Does anyone have any advice? im open to other colors mixing in with the blue, and im open to white for sure if someone thinks the motherboard wont look too bad.. but i find that hard to believe:

anyway, any advice is appreciated.

CCFLs don't have to be blinding. I have two blue CCFLs and it's actually a very nice brightness (bright enough to see the insides fairly clearly, but dark enough to not bother me). Although my tubes are quite old now, and they take some time to fully light up (I haven't timed them, but it's probably around 30 minutes).

Just keep the tubes themselves out of sight, and you should be fine.

You can also look into LED strips. Dazmode.com sells a variety of really nice LEDs I'm sure you can get them elsewhere if you aren't in Canada. You can connect them to a controller and dim them so they won't be blinding either. Any controller will do. Depends what kind of lighting you want too though. LEDs are directional, CCFL will shine in every direction. You could do orange, would look good with the mobo color.
