[Various] Fallout 4 Leaked Gameplay Footage and Screenshots (Seventh Update) - Page 31

I'm a little apprehensive about the dialogue options as well. I love the varied dialogue choices and hope we still get plenty of them. Visuals are not as huge an improvement at first glance, but I guess we'll see in a week. Though, like has been said a million times, Fallout is not played for visuals, and there will be complete repacks available in the first month or two i'm sure.

I'm really concerned mostly about the story. This is a story game. If the story can't get me involved... i'm less likely to even both with mods adding TO the story... It's like putting one shiny new tire on an old beater car and saying, 'Look.. THAT part is nice.'

I'll most likely still buy it, and save my digital receipt. B/c if this bombs, i'd imagine there will be a huge backlash including the possibility of refunds, since that happens more and more frequently it seems if people yell loud enough. That, or exclusive content and free bonuses once they fix things.

I'm at least 80% sure this will be a worthwhile investment for a majority of those who buy it. Some people just can't be pleased though... that entitlement culture that has been mentioned so much. If i'm too bummed out, I'll just treat the game like a playland and go nuts with custom mods biggrin.gif

I do however expect a solid open world experience that falls in line with all the other Bethesda games I've played over the years. They haven't failed me yet.

Oh I totally agree. I was just reading an article about the focus on the VATS system and overall gunplay and it really sounds promising. Honestly that is what I am really looking forward to with this title. There are just so many shooters out there, we need something that makes a game unique. Graphics, and textures are a nice bonus, but i am most concerned with overall gameplay and most importantly combat. The VATS system is something that could really be built upon and end up making FO4 stand out. I will of course wait to judge anything and won't let a few articles or screenshots toy with my emotions.

As far as devs favoring one platform over the other, this is an unfortunate reality with some games nowadays. I can't say that I was not utterly disappointed with Arkham Knight, but I didn't really have high hopes for it either. Thankfully I got it and the Witcher 3 in a bundle with my 980 for free so I simply saw that as a win/lose, break even deal. And that is just how I approach all releases now, basically no expectation. I am certainly not telling anyone that they should do the same, but the tired cliche complaining and PC master race card stuff are growing kinda old...

Temporal Anti-Aliasing is a huge deal, IMHO. If it is as good as in The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - Redux, then it would be truly 95% aliasing-free, but at a cost of blur worse than SMAA and FXAA with SubPixel AA. However, ReShade's LumaSharpen + AdaptiveSharpen + TAA = AMAZING results with perfect sharpness and once again, 95% aliasing-free picture.

Bethesda's games (be it Fallout or Elder Scrolls) were never about gameplay. They were always about creating a raw engine & modding tools with the most basic game elements present to promote modding, which eventually turns that raw engine into a real game with great graphics, physics, sound, and gameplay.

Anyone who messed with Skyrim modding knows that it was 85% modding and 15% gameplay, not to mention modding was a lot more fun than actually playing the game. That is why it is best to completely avoid Fallout 4 and not be a mad man paying $60 for a raw engine + modding tools. Wait 1-2 years and until it is on sale and THEN it will be worth it.

This also leads to another major aspect of Bethesda games (NO its not gameplay) - SCREENSHOTS. Morrowind, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, and now Fallout 4 have insanely boring and repetitive fetch-quests. That is common knowledge and that is once again, why modding will make up for the missing 75% of this game. After modding + ENB + ReShade, Fallout 4 will become a screenshot game, where once again, gameplay has little meaning, but posting beautiful shots is the "main gameplay".

This happened before and it will happen again. Don't be an idiot - don't pay $60 for a raw engine with basic content & modding tools. Bethesda does not sell full games, but raw basics to get gamers to do the real hard work of actually creating the game, although it is called "modding".

Look at the INSANEST number of bugs Skyrim had and still has after mind-boggling number of Unofficial Patches that fixed over 15000 bugs thus far!". Why pay for this junk?

That's funny because I care 0% about any kind of AA. It's just a bandaid for monitors with poor pixel resolution. I can't believe the sheer amount of different types of AA and the lengths some people go to remove aliasing when it's not the game's fault, it's not the type of AA you're using, it's the monitor that causes aliasing. AA also taxes the crap out of your hardware, which IMHO is completely unnecessary when you could just use a better monitor and enjoy higher framerates at the same time. I'd rather they put effort into other (much needed) things such as textures.

DSR x 2 is night and day over any AA.
I can't tell the difference between msaa2/8 on my screen. DSR is easier to run than gobs of AA and produces a better image, but we still need AA.

I played all of those games unmodded more than once and enjoyed the hell out of them. All modding gave me were a few bug fixes and delicious graphics. Is that better? Yes. Does it mean the game was rubbish without them? Hell no!

Hmm leaked footage... wonder if it's on console or pc, wonder if it's and alpha build or beta build or full release, he said it was ultra so i guess i should believe him.... how we put the pitch forks and torches down and wait till we ACTUALLY have the game to make judgement no one really has any idea what the game will look like, it might look like this in which case don't play it if it's bothering you that much it might look completely different no one really knows... suppose though band wagon and all
