But I am not going to expect that every title released is going to be head and shoulders over the console versions, it just isn't realistic.

Besides it has become somewhat of a cliche for PC users to dog the graphics and nitpick other small issues of games before they release. No wonder developers pay us little mind, half of us are going to complain anyways. If it isn't one thing then it's another, so it's almost a loose loose for them anyways. I won't complain or promote fear, I'll just wait and see what's what when it is released and then I'll decide if it's worth my time. I have found gaming at 1440p at high frame rate tends to make me care less about having all the graphics settings pumped up anyways. As long as the game runs smoothly and is enjoyable is all I ultimately care about...

Your thoughts mirror mine, couldn't have put it any better.

I doubt it. It is all about people's minimum graphics expectations. Some have high ones and some have low ones. Witcher 3 raised the bar and so did GTA V, so its OK for Fallout 4 graphics NOT to live to the same level, but it still has to be good to get the best experience and high ratings. This isn't an indie game with 2D graphics, but a 3D game and it should look on par with other AAA 3D 2014-2015 games released last year and this year. .

On one hand, I get what you're saying. On the other hand, GoG has proven that there is an enormous market for classic games - which /does/ say something as to graphics vs gameplay.

To be honest, I'd much rather play Baldur's Gate than Pillars or Dungeon Keeper than Dungeons, or Heroes III over Heroes VI/VII.
I think a lot of people would agree.

Graphics help a game - and they *can* make or break it, but gameplay is what decides if the game can be made or broken in the first place.

When you look at it objectively it really is true. I just try to focus on the things I can control, like my hardware, to make my gaming experience the best it can possibly be. I can also control which titles I buy and which ones I don't too...wink.gif

People are going to have issues and complain no matter what a developer/publisher does. Please the masses and let the complainers fall in line or move along. If I don't like something about a game I wouldn't buy it.

I expect to get a fair amount of time and enjoyment out of this game. I also expect that once it's running on screen it will look and play well. I did kind of mess up though. After saying how I found DA:I visually unattractive I decided to give it another shot... I still find it kind of ugly, but, I'm still cleaning the DA:I powder off my nose from last night. Think I might of just started up a massive open world game days before this releases. lol.

I don't know what happened with my DA:I playthrough, it kinda stalled about 75% through. I got so tired of the bunk tactical camera and other annoying keyboard and mouse deficiencies/bugs that I gave it a rest and never got going again. Oh actually the Witcher 3 is what happened (which I ironically use a controller to play). DA:I was one of those games that I actually sided with many of the PC complainists because the PC version was always superior to all of the previous generations. But I never demanded changes or expected anything to happen, it is just and unfortunate truth of the industry...

First everyone complains that the graphics aren't good, then the same people will nag about the gameplay. If you know so much about making games, go make one?

Yea, the tactical controls are pointless. I'll admit that I quickly set the difficulty to casual and rolled with it. I can do team based RPG combat if I have full control over my party. If the AI just noobs up everything I set up then I won't try. I'm having fun with the game now that I got past the visuals, but, yea, the AI makes me miss some of the older team based RPG's that allowed much easier control of your team. In those older party based RPG's I usually felt like there wasn't much I couldn't deal with with proper tactics. In DA:I I'm playing it like a hack-n-slash.

There will always be critics of all creative material, it's the entitlement that really makes me laugh. Of course on the other hand it doesn't make for very interesting discussion if we all agree on everything though...
