i5 4690K DX11 Multi-Thread 2.1m

and do you own a 970? because HyperQ on Fermi has bad performance on DX12..whenever you are goign to use Async C,

the thing will be that most of games wont be programmed to use more cores if it is a console port.. evne if the engine is limiting the performance on CPU side, a quad core would be just fine

At least where I live the 6700k and 5820k chips cost the same, and so will the ram. Basically it comes down to spending like $50 more (~$650 z170 vs ~$700 x99 totals) for a decent x99 mobo but then you get 1.5x the cores. This is why I encourage only going with the i5 is skylake is truly desired. The 6700k in my book is just a bad buy compared to the 5820k and shouldn't even be considered. By getting a 6700k, you justify that purchase over a 6600k becuase it has more threads, but didn't take the small leap up to get the 5820k with 150% cores? It's just silly to get the 6700k in all cases.

Its a matter or single core performance... 6700k win the single core performance and the 5820k win the multicore... Its depend of the game you want to play really but even with dx12 coming soon maybe you will still play older game that require single core performance... arma 2-3, Dayz, MWO and almost all early release game are not optimized yet and require single performance over multicore.

If you a gamer that require single perf and do some software compression , video etc pick the 6700k over the 6600k if not the 6600k may be enough

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago, eventually decided to go with the 5820k. At my local microcenter the price was around the same for 5820k/x99 vs 6700k/z170(they had the 5820k for 300 bucks).

Can't say I'm let down, performance is fantastic. 5820k overclocks to 4.5ghz very easy, with just 1.28vcore.

Thread Starter
I think I'm going with the 5820k, it's more versatile and I can have one delivered tomorrow. I think the overall cost is about £10 greater.

Cheers everybody. thumb.gif
