Will this Marvel PCI SSD adapter bottleneck me?

Thread Starter
Hello,

I've got only two true intel sata 3 ports on my motherboard, right at the top, so I want to get this adapter for my other Samsung Pro's:

http://www.amazon.ca/Apricorn-Velocity-Performance-Upgrade-VEL-SOLO-X1/dp/B0090IA3AU
(if someone has a better site please let me know)

My current motherboard has marvel 6gb ports, but it's bull**** and gives me sata 2 speeds, which is why I'm worried about this device. I also loooked into some Sonnet ones but they seem over priced just like their ssds.

Specs:

mobo: GA UD5 X79
cpu: 3930k
ssds: Samsung 850evos and 840pros
os: win 7 ultimate

Also, can someone confirm that this is completely bypassing the sata bay, and that it isn't just a mount rack.

Thankjs smile.gif

A person I just read about purchased a Syba PCIe 2.0 x4 4-port SATA 6Gb/s card and it offered them good performance for their 850 EVOs: http://www.thessdreview.com/forums/threads/poor-overall-drive-performace.4750/

From Crystal Disk Mark this is their performance:

Sequential Read (Q= 32,T= 1) : 550.121 MB/s

Sequential Write (Q= 32,T= 1) : 517.143 MB/s

Random Read 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 249.660 MB/s [ 60952.1 IOPS]

Random Write 4KiB (Q= 32,T= 1) : 177.049 MB/s [ 43224.9 IOPS]

Sequential Read (T= 1) : 507.147 MB/s

Sequential Write (T= 1) : 494.692 MB/s

Random Read 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 37.371 MB/s [ 9123.8 IOPS]

Random Write 4KiB (Q= 1,T= 1) : 71.752 MB/s [ 17517.6 IOPS]

Here is a link to the card: LINK
