What's in?...What's out?...

What are you looking to buy next for your camera bag and what are you getting rid of?

For example I am looking to get rid of my 70-200 f/2.8G...it's a spectacularly good lens but I just don't use it enough....too heavy for hiking about and doesn't seem to be useful for my photography...not the sort of lens I am happy to see just sitting there not getting used...

I am going to get the 24mm f/1.4G and 58mm f/1.4G which are where my photography seems to be headed....primes not zooms the only zoom lens I'd have would then be the 14-24...which is staying full stop!

The 58 because I am evolving into a complete bokeh whore redface.gif

I seem to pass over 35mm completely...just don't see that focal length for some reason

next buys for me is a travel tripod, the new zeiss milvus 50/2, and the new canon 35L mkII. probably the 35mm much later since i dont really need it that bad

I've been doing a lot of swapping around in my bag. Just figuring out by trial and error what I think I need. I've gone through a lot of different lenses, and I think I'm almost there now.

I've got a fisheye, 16-70 F4 as a walkaround, 50 F1.8 for bokeh and low light, and the 70-200 F4 for sports/action.
The only thing I think I'm missing is a fast 35mm either 1.4 or 1.8. The 50 is great, but on a crop body it's too narrow to fit a whole car in frame. And the F4 zoom isn't fast enough most of the time.

And then MUCH later down the line, I may invest in a fixed 300mm or 500mm. I'm sure I could get some cool action shots with those. But it'll be years before I consider actually buying one of them. I may rent one in the near future though, just to try it out.

OK so I have been working a lot lately to do this and I have just received both the lenses I wanted....love them both already...

24mm is fantastic in low light and the 58mm is going to be my favourite lens I think...OOF is a dream

Plenty more testing to do with them....night shots not test charts

The 58mm in particular was a surprise. I had read it was a bit of a light weight nonsense lens but some key remarks in some reviews that I think I trust made me try it out and it's a lesson in not listening to internet chatter and seeing for yourself. It's a great lens...

Will post some stuff up one of these days...
