I'm sorry, am I the only one who thinks that this is within the margin of error and thus may not be true?

Until peer review has confirmed this it could very well be an error.

Reminds me of the "Double-slit experiment". The act of observing affects particles. Pretty cool stuff.

Just like the Double-slit experiment it's still unknown, i think, whether its the instrumentation that measures them that causes it or whether it's simply the act of observing. If it's the latter then that still leaves open many possibilities, like does the observer have to be an agent (a conscious being) or anything that can record data.

If it is the agent then how do the atoms know whether a conscience mind has observed them?

I know it's a bit of a stretch to figure on anyone watching this whole thing through. But it's the first time someone's put this whole concept into enough clarity for my brain to take a bite of. It also takes away a lot of the "quantum is magic and this guy explaining it to you is a wizard" feeling out of it. Which seems to be going on here a little bit. I can understand that a new forefront is very exciting to scientists, but this enthusiasm gives way to "wow factor" quite easily, and seems to put layman's understanding in a bit of a backseat to popularization.

Anyway, https://youtu.be/dEaecUuEqfc

How about this: the DNA code in a single fertilised egg fits on a CD of 700MB but to create a human body it takes several GB of DNA code.

Obviously aside from that, i see the gap between quantum physics and the theory of relativity getting ever smaller.

Watching Doctor Who while I read your post lol. +rep for bringing up the creepiest and most well thought out villain in the series!

on topic: cool confirmation of this theory.

back off topic: Doctor Who rules.

I brought this up in a spacegeek thread here a few days back... because it had me confused as hell as well.

For what I understand.... What they did new was observe the change of states... where an atom is acting as a wave and then by increasing the frequency of measurement were able to stop the atom acting as a wave. They supercooled to less than 1c and by increasing the power of the laser, were able to stop the atom from appearing at various points in the lattice.

Previously, to observe particle wave duality, they used photons traveling along a wire and by increasing and decreasing the rate was able to chart this:
