Not finding way to change thermal throttle limit

Thread Starter
My CPU forces thermal throttle already at 50 celsius. That causes major fps drops when running heavier games.
I've heard that thermal throttling limit (or whatever it is called) is set to 50% by default often and i cant find way to change it.
I have checked BIOS but didnt see anything relevant and i have googled for additional info but never found anything really.

Processor: AMD FX(tm)-9590 Eight Core Processor
Motherboard: msi 970a-g43

Id be more than happy to hear how to disable/raise limit on thermal throttling. Thanks

Ps. If im in wrong forum section or more info is needed please let me know.

Well I do own a 9590 and I can tell you this much: the thermal limit for this chip is 62c for the cores and 72c for the CPU if you hit more than that you will have throttling and over 10c+ more you will get a system shutdown.

You could try posting on the AMD CPU section, but nevertheless I think your problem is that you are having issues with other things, but im not sure, you should post a few pictures to verify that rolleyes.gif

here is the thread 9590 - 9370 AMD CPU

Alright thanks for the info.

Also Im not sure if i have good enough cooler, im using Hyper TX3 EVO. Though my friend was saying that its alright, when we built it up. Would you suggest getting a different cooler maybe?

Oh Yes, definitely!!!!

9590 is a power hungry CPU, and it's intended to be used only with liquid cooling, or a cooler capable of handling 220W of heat. If you dont have those things, then you are going to suffer a lot of throttling.

So once again, You should change your heatsink asap to a more capable one for this cpu, and take a look at the 9590 theard so you can gain more knowledge on this chip tongue.gif
