Play your little semantic games all you want, but the fact of the matter is, you know I'm right.

The US and European nations have caused a lot of problems, but we are the one who will solve those, and many other problems.

As 47 Knucklehead said, it's a continent. doh.gif We do have the AU, but I'm not sure if it actually means anything.

And by the way, I'm not certain that the US really wants the rest of the world to be better off, since that'll reduce their power.

I was mocking him because he keeps talking about Africa like it's a country.

I wondered how you could get something that wrong.

I don't read every single post in detail though, so I suppose that's why I didn't notice.

I'm not talking like Africa is a single country, the tiny voice in your head hears the words I type as that. rolleyes.gif

If I was to break down certain African nations out by themselves, you'd REALLY see how insignificant they are as far as furthering the human condition and advancing technology in the past 1000 years. Oh, say like Somalia, Gambia, Malawi, just to name three.

A single African has done more for space travel in the last 15 years than NASA has done since the 1970s.

Yeah it's not like we're basing this off of you referring to the "African nation"'s successes (or apparently, lack thereof) as a singular entity in comparison to countries on the same level. Or if those words weren't taught to you in school: You kept referring to Africa as one thing and not made up of many things.

Oh, yeah like the CAT scanner, Maths (debatable), open heart surgery. And, if you want people whom were born from here include: PayPal, Ubuntu, SpaceX and Tesla. You should check this out, it really helps with basing statements off of facts!

But, who cares? They're just some dirty dirt farming peasants whom grovel at our mighty feet in awe from our splendor and might? Right?

Malawi:
(debatably an inventor - William Kamkwamba)

Somalia:
TITAN Mixer bottle

Gambia:
auto streetlight system, an auto tap, an e-letter box and a soft touch swift.

are to name but a few MODERN inventions, and you pick countries that are in their infancy or ravaged by war, or being manipulated by the first world powers.....

And frankly you talk about the African continent as if you have experience ... thumb.gif

I would say dont put yourself into a corner you cant get yourself out of, however thats as helpful as closing the barn door after the horse has bolted....

Not to mention advancements in Nuclear power Sasol invented or lets go even further and list turning coal into usable petroleum as another african invention.... not bad for a dirt farmer!

The first clinical CT scan on a patient took place on 1st October 1971 at Atkinson Morley's Hospital, in London, England. The patient, a lady with a suspected frontal lobe tumour, was scanned with a prototype scanner, developed by Godfrey Hounsfield and his team at EMI Central Research Laboratories in Hayes, west London. The scanner produced an image with an 80 x 80 matrix, taking about 5 minutes for each scan, with a similar time required to process the image data. Current CT scanners can produce images with an 1024 x 1024 matrix, acquiring data for a slice in less than 0.3 seconds, and are an integral part of a modern hospital's imaging resources.

I think most people tend to lump africa together as one big mass because from top to bottom and side to side africa is pretty much one big mass of civil wars, genocides, famines, droughts, epidemics, overpopulation, ect ect. And along with all that negativity africa as a whole contributes almost nothing to the common prosperity of homo sapiens.

That list of african inventions is chock full of stuff from thousands of years ago, or from expat africans who had to flee to regions of the world that actually supported their scientific endeavors before they made their discoveries.
