So ground up completely over haul or port it into the newer engines??
d2 in d3 engine would be sacrilege

cannot do it ... please.. it needs to retain its grit

Could play warcraft 3 again if the remaster is a true remaster and not just a resolution fix.

Warcraft 3 remaster with more lore, missions and such. And updated every some time with more missions.

Er... You can always change art style and graphics. Its the D2 skills and D2 gameplay that may be hard to achieve.

What sucks is they are surely going to change some things and not make an identical copy of the original game, which may piss some people off.

The engine has nothing to do with the artstyle.

I would look like Heros of the Storm. I think if they do a full remaster i would pay $60.

Some of my friends in game do nothing but play Diablo 3 all day (no job), and bot while they sleep. There's still gear they are looking for... meaning someone like me who "only" plays 4-6 hours a night will never find all the gear they could want. At least for the amount I play, the drop rates are pretty ideal now. In earlier patches, it was possible you could play nightly for the whole season, and never find the weapon you needed to complete the build... now there's no risk of that, it's just a question of how good of one you end up with.

Diablo 2 is a very different game though. I really hope they don't try to "update" the game mechanics.

I'm pretty confused, I posited if they allowed current drop rates with trading, most people would be entirely geared out within weeks.. because they would give the duplicates which are just a little worse to their friends as they got the drops. The only reason you can keep grinding d3 with any semblence of hope for drops is because the likelihood of the right rare unique with the right affixes and high rolls is so damn low. Even then, Kenai's cube is starting to take that away if you have the right stack of materials and you can just keep re-rolling and farming for the ancient blah blah blah you need with high rolls. There is no magic to seeing that orange/green star pop up on your map, no happy dance inside when you see it.. you simply expect every rift / grift you do should net you at least 2. Again, the reliance of the AH in the design of the game is to blame, and blizzard did NOT want to do the clean sweep of the servers they should have done when they removed the AH, to fix the broken item system.

God, normally I'm not for remakes / remasters, but I'm actually excited about this... Just goes to show the current state of gaming, where we actually welcome remakes. I'm just happy that Blizzard hasn't sold out to the 10 billion DLC model yet... Can't explain how much I hate paying for something that should have been included in the first place.

Anyway, I really feel like playing some D2 now, for old times' sake.

Diablo 3 just never was exciting, it was an AH tool before to generate crap-tons of money for Blizzard, and now its a broken design stuck in limbo. The mechanics of it are kind of fun, but its definitely not a spiritual successor to the dungeon crawler masterpiece of D2:LoD.
