I just wanted to write how happy I am with my first Silicon Lottery experience. Last week I built my 5820K rig and purchased a 4.7 GHz chip from SL. The chip was guaranteed to run at 4.7 GHz, 1.344V core, 1.95V input. I am currently running a 24/7 stable 4.6 GHz at 1.215V core, 1.9V input, 4.6 GHz cache, and 3200 MHz memory. I am guessing from minimal testing that 4.7 would be stable around 1.275V core, far lower than the 1.344 guaranteed. However, the chip is so cool and the cooler silent at 4.6 that I think I will leave it there. What an incredible piece of silicon. For anyone on the fence about buying from these guys, just do it already!

And yet, some people still would rather have the extra 12 pcie lanes of a 5930K over a golden 5820K. rolleyes.gif

Your chip is just a little better than the 4.7 5960x I bought from them, which also vastly outperformed my expectations. It almost looks like they make sure to leave a little headroom.

I actually struggled deciding between a SL 5820K and a random 5930K. I would liked to have had 40 lanes, but decided I'd rather have the guaranteed clocks.

That's one thing I like about buying their top bin. You are still playing the lottery, except you have no where to go but up. If you buy a 4.6 chip, you know exactly what you are getting. However, if you buy a 4.7 chip, you may actually get a 4.8 or higher chip. Another thing that contributes to headroom is that passing an hour of Realbench is about as tough a test as I can think of. Most people don't have requirements that strenuous. I loop the benchmark 4 times and call it stable. Thats only 30-40 minutes. I've never had a chip fail in the real world after passing 4 loops.
