Fine, I agree with that, but eh... I bet turning on Nvidia Physx drops it 20 frames like that feature does in every other game with it anyway, so turnning stuff like that off will help. Like always.

How did they even manage to get it to take up 12GB? No reason for that.... other than pure laziness.

nvidia gameworks can be disabled or used selectively so what's the problem ? why are people complaining they can't run the latest games on a 2013 GPU and 8GB of RAM I wonder. 2 years in PC gaming is time to move on if you want the best, been that way forever.
12GB is waaaay too much tho, I'm sure they could've brought it down a lot only if they wanted to. I'm not saying down to 6GB, which would run good on 8GB RAM rigs, but certainly a lot less than 12GB.

BF4 had a memory leak. Could be something like that perhaps?

Just like with every gameworks title it will run poorly on AMD GPUs (at least on launch) Because AMD is not given the final code so they can make a driver before the game comes out.

Far Cry 4 is a perfect example... and Witcher.

So lemme get this straight...The game has difficulties running smoothly on a high tier card like that due to piss poor coding and optimization and your solution is that "oh well hurrr durr the player can afford that card, might as well get a better one"? Have you seen the graphics on BOIII? There not that great IMO to where that card should even have the tiniest struggle running that game.

Thank you Mr. Obvious.

Exactly. I used to think the same way many people here think about Gameworks until I really started to think about it. Here's what I posted on HardForum about it:

It's not for purposely gimping other manufacturer's hardware when you can turn the effects off. The issue these days is people (and many reviewers) seem to think GW settings are mandatory, i.e. the new "ultra", rather than as some added features that can enhance the image quality of a game. Would you rather they just take GW features out completely? I'd rather have them in and be able to go back to a game in a year or two with better hardware and be able to play it with better settings than before. GW is really just a bonus for people who have very high end hardware and for people who replay games after many years.

the golden rule is - he who has the gold makes the rules.
but I'm tired of hearing this all over again. ain't no whining gonna change that. the facts are nvidia runs the games better at launch, with amd you gotta wait and even then it might never get fixed.

Sigh...

Back when the current gen consoles released I was excited that for once we would finally get well optimized titles from every publisher. Instead we have titles which take way more memory and horsepower to run than even 2 Xbox ones or PS4s combined would have. If Black Ops III was optimized properly, I bet we wouldn't even see 2GB Vram usage or 6GB RAM usage.
