[Techpowerup]Black Ops III: 12 GB RAM and GTX 980 Ti Not Enough - Page 23

I can understand the 780 Ti doing badly since Nvidia decided to drop it to make their newer line up look good, but the 290X and 390X are not that much different at all. Either it is bad testing or it's been done deliberately to boost hardware sales.

Lol that fps doesnt reflect actual performance. They themself admmited on stutter n said this is indicative.

I think its a ram issue. When i was trying on my ti sli with 16gb.. It tried to go above to 22gb pagefile. Thats when all the problem starts.

Reduced texture from extra to high. Pagefile dropped to 16/ vram under 4.. So it didnt exceed physical 16gb .. Smooth 144fps with gsync @1440p.
Change shadow from extra to high. Cpu usage took a nose dive. This comp is not delided n has rads like main rig. So temps were hitting 84c. 4770k@4.5/1.24v. Wc parts was from whatever spares i had lying around. Use it for lanpartys
dsTYJNgc.jpg

But just as arkham knight. Theres a difference tolerance on whats acceptable n defined as smooth.

Mine is based on main rig smoothness on maxed out. Only way for ppl to see the difference is to try how it plays on a Tx. Its been proven time n time again this year tx overcame any game bug issue etc. All game played well on it.
Also 32gb vs 16gb ram. When i had titanblacks i had issue with 16gb for evolv. Had to shutdown alot of background programs so it didnt hit above 16gb. Hence y when i got my tx immediate upgrade to 32gb. Really wished there was a 64gb 3200/3400 ddr4. That would make 6700k upgrade worth it.

Well game dev should fix these issues on ram. I think its reserving for 2x amount of vram. That doesnt make sense. 1x is enough.

eh, memory leaks are typically fixed within a few days.

the live push & the final internal build are always different.

either way, this thread isn't unique, just the hate for the COD series.

Tons of recent titles have been doing this whole "make it look like we're using EVERY SINGLE resource possible!" thing.

Yes, I'm sure bob & joe are having issues, while Sussie & Jill are having no issues.

Why? Not sure, I would need to remote into Bob & Joe's PCs to tell them where they're failing.

its only when u reduce that Texture thingy from extra to high.. then its all good and vram doesnt even go above 4

so *** does extra does that equates another 5gb.. to make a total of 9gb ??

Turn off the FPS cap and sync and drag the slider to 240 max.

you'll be fine after that.

nope
tried that....
even with gsync... that rig has a gsync monitor as well.

also hmm after thought.. could it be theres a bug with multi card config.. so its reserving 2x vram because theres two cards??

again the smootness that i get with main rig is not there.

WHAT? An issue w/ SLi on day 1?

unheard of!

and people wonder why i always say i'll never tri-sli on a gaming rig again, at least... not until we see what DX12 actually brings, and how developers use the tools given to them.

a new API that supports X doesn't mean a new game that uses the new API uses X.

Well on my sli setup and xb270hu, at first it was just chop chop chop--- when I took off the limiter it seemed to run normally but it was very slow and glitchy. I can't call it bro I was just trying to help but I was pretty bummed after running a match at each map.

It is a mess.

It's pretty much the standard in today's entertainment industry, big gaming publishers release a rushed incomplete buggy game just to get a quick buck and don't even care about the quality of the game is a common thing, and I'm not even surprised that Activision allowed this to happen. This is why I never preorder games or buy games from day one release.

its the ram thing. definitely not vram

cause the ti's ran as good as the tx for codaw eventhough tx was reporting 11.5gb.

i am sure of it. cause this rig is limited to 16gb. whenever it exceeds with pagefile hitting more than 16gb ( meaning it went to virtual mem).. thats when the choppiness starts.
so its not vram.

tested it a few times already ...

The game INTENTIONALLY uses that much VRAM. By default it TARGETS to utilize 90% of your VRAM by keeping textures loaded so they don't need to be streamed in. You can go into the config and reduce the target to 75%.
