[Techpowerup]Black Ops III: 12 GB RAM and GTX 980 Ti Not Enough - Page 8

You know what the sad thing is? I bet heaps of PC players preordered it. To those who did, thanks for your contribution to ruining our games day by day. If you didn't preorder, perhaps they'd feel the need to impress us.

However, these days it's acceptable to release a half finished game on PC for some reason. Imagine if it ran like a stuttery mess on console.

If the 4GB of ram is the limiting factor, and this preview shows that you need a Titan X and it's 12GB, then we must all congratulate Activision for alienating 99.9999% of PC gamers. I hope the hundred copies they sell will be worth the cost to do the port.. wink.gif

The people that actually pay for games are the ones actually keeping the PC community alive. Reason why PC gets all the bad ports is because PC games either pirate the games or buy them for 5 bucks on sale. Developers just like anyone who has a job are there to make some coin.

Considering that fallout 4 pre order full price was the top seller during the halloween sale on both gmg and steam that's just not true at all. The pc platform is very profitable for devs, some devs even report more sales than consoles.

He said preordering, not buying.. Big difference, and i agree with him. We're in the digital age, preorders are useless.

Not sure if this has been pointed out, but on consoles it's 1920 x 1080 or around 2 million pixels.

In the link it says they were using a 2560 x 1600 monitor or about 4 million pixels.

Consoles are rocking 8 GB total memory for 2 million pixels
Test PC is using 16 GB of total memory(8 ram, 8 vram) for 4 million pixels.

I really wanna see if they dropped the resolution down to 1920 x 1080 if the game suddenly starts using 4gb of system and 4 gb of Vram.

Can someone with some knowledge on coding and storing data to RAM verify if that's what we could be seeing? Seems like it's how you would do if you didn't know how to properly stream any of the data or how to compress files or something. Like if a beginner were to try and make a little game work with higher resolutions.

Diablo called.... He wants to have a chat with you....

Witcher 3 is in the corner laughing at cashing in on the PS4 and Xbox players who bought the crappy PC port to Console version.

not counting the 1.5-2 GB used up by the OS and essential lightweight tasks (such as antivirus).

Well there's your problem! (Joking. Antivirus is really more useless than Activision though).

This is honestly impressive. It takes some real skill to port a game to PC this badly. It's almost as if it were developed on a Titan X, 5960X 16GB RAM system and "worked" so they just shipped it!

Do we ever expect anything less from them though?

Do we really need anything more?
