I hope that was a joke.
Oblivion had moments where it's scenery looked great, but the buildings, animations, and characters were always clunky and ugly looking.
Mods don't count.
But I'm the first person to admit that Oblivion's visuals were massively inconsistent. I've always said that a few steps in one direction or a 180 degree turn can be the difference between Oblivion being a very pretty game and downright hideous. This is a feature of Gamebryo, and Skyrim etc. are equally affected
. I remember already mentioning Oblivion's atrocious character models in one of these threads too.
Maybe I should rephrase: Under favorable conditions, Oblivion was capable of the best graphics in 2006. Let's not pretend that people weren't drooling over it at the time, and it was the go-to hardware demo/benchmark game until STALKER (and later, Crysis). Oblivion was the Crysis of it's time in terms of graphical prestige.Edited by Oubadah - 11/8/15 at 8:02pm
