Corsair HX1000i PCI-E 8-Pin Cables

post #1 of 4
Thread Starter
I cannot for the life of me comprehend how I'm supposed to sleeve these cables. I understand I might have to do some splicing, but is that really the required method for these?

If I'm not going to use the extra PCI-E spots on the PSU, can I just make separate 8 pin connectors for each 8 pin connection on the GPU's (4 Total)

I'm going to run SLI'd GTX 980 Ti's and each one has two 8 pin connectors. If I can make one 8 pin connector for each one instead of trying to get two out of 1 I will do that but I don't know if that's acceptable or not.

I have a picture I made in MS Paint to explain what I mean in case that makes no sense smile.gif

Hi there tongue.gif,

Im sorry for my ignorance but you are telling me that your cables goes from 8-pin cpu to dual 8-pin PCIe? o.o

Yes. There's 8 pins on one side of the cable for the PSU, and on the other end of the cable is two separate 6+2 pins.

So:

[8 Pins] ============== 6+2 ==== 6+2

The second 6+2 pin connector is connected to the first 6+2 connector.

I havent seen those types of cables in person haha:p, just the regular 8-pin to 6+2 tongue.gif, it's nice to see that rolleyes.gif

Well after what you told me, I guess you wouldn't have any problem in making 4 pairs of 8-pin to 8 pin or 6+2 pin PCIe cables, If you are planing on using the 4 PCIe spots on the PSU, then this is like using separated cables for each rail on your PSU

Be careful with the pin placement of the PCI cables rolleyes.gif
