I have TDS Telecom here in NH, they're the company that owns US Cellular, they just put in fiber service a year and a half ago. I get close to 200/200 and pay for 100/100, along with TV and phone, I pay about $160 a month the jump to 500/500 would only cost me like $20 and the jump to 1000/1000 would be $50 I think.

I like my Verzion Fios. Fast, reliable, no data caps. Yeah, it could be less expensive, but compared to what business rates are for just about any ISP, it's cheap as sin.

Then there is the censorship.

Hate the US companies as much as you want, I'll take the worst of them over communist run government internet any day of the week.

Thank you for that!, some people don't appreciate the good things we have left. rolleyes.gif

I wonder why there are really no competition for comcast when it comes to internet? just like Google Fiber, because AT&T and other companies offer internet but by 4G network.

I heard that south korea have the faster low speed internet @ 25.3Mbits, and that there is a lot of competition between the company that provides internet. Things like this should happen here thumb.gif

They made it even cheaper. When Comcast bumped my from 105 to 150 down, FIOS was the same price for 75/75 (and 150/150 was a lot more). Now you can get 150/150 for the same amount (65/mo). Would totally switch if FIOS was available here since I only get like 10 up (not that I use it much at all but if I'm paying the same price why not). For a while, FIOS had better up speed but worse down speed, now it seems they've finally caught up in terms of downstream speed:price but are blowing Comcast out of the water with their upload speeds.

They have one of the fastest on avg Internet, but the best value for internet.

I've sat here all weekend watching my sisters home and after the storm rolled over, Ive been sitting at just about 10,000-13,000 ping losing connection at times.

God Bless America.

It's pointless to engage in hyperbole. Demanding more in taxes and nationalizing certain parts of the industry does not make you a Communist.

This is not the first time this week that a company has made a blatant cash grab.

Just upgraded to 100mbps / 100mbps unlimited (true unlimited not half-assed unlimited/limited) $40 / mo, I could choose from 8 different ISP and there are only 200.000 inhabitants living in my town.

Competition for the win, I honestly don't understand how this monopoly is so successful in the states.

Because building cable is extremely expensive.

Didn't AT&T and/or Comcast get few millions/billions of dollar from tax payers to spread fiber and end up doing nothing?

Edit: $200b - http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/2007/pulpit_20070810_002683.html
