If it's true, I'd assume Zen+ HEDT/Server and consequently AM4+ in 2H 2018 given that's an APU roadmap. Since the rumors/official statement (same thing when dealing with Global) have said GloFo will begin 7nm production in 2018.

Of course I'm most likely wrong and there will probably be delays.

Single threaded performance is and will always be essential. The FX-9590 has ST performance of < 2.5 - 3.6GHz Skylake

Sometimes I actually wonder if WCCFTech pulls the "information" out of their asses confused.gif
If they have wrong information for the part coming up first, what are the changes that anything else would be correct either?

- Snowy Owl is not a APU, but a MCM server part based on the same Zeppelin die as Summit Ridge and Naples. Uses SP4 BGA package.
- "Naples" is neither a CPU, die or a design, but a codename for the top tier server platform (like Interlagos, Grantley, etc)

Correct me if I'm wrong but as I see it outside of online gaming single thread performance isn't as vital as it used to be with more and more apps going multi thread.

Dunno why that pic made me think of this.

Single threat is important.. That's why phenom ii did well even with piledriver out, the single threat performance wasn't there, only when you over clocked you see a big jump, and that showed more in multithreaded applications

Single thread performance is extremely important outside gaming too.

The fallacy which some people subscribe to is that concurrency and parallelism are same, but they are not.

Concurrency can be achieved on a single core processor as well as on multi-core processors but true parallelism can only be achieved on multicore processors.

Irrespective of how programs are written, they eventually more or less are concurrent in nature because of how Operating Systems allocate resources to Processes waiting to run.

That is why, sometimes a super highly overclocked processor can still out perform a lower clocked multicore processor in parallel programs.

I think single thread performance is very very important.
