How to burn a DVD?

Thread Starter
Sorry if this is a noobish question.
(I know I can google it but I don't want any bloatware.)

I need to know how to take all my TV shows and movies and burn them to a DVD so they can be played in a DVD player.
I don't need anything fancy or over complicated. smile.gif

Will they play in a playstation and xbox?
I only have 4-6 DVDs left so I don't have much room for error. Thanks. smile.gif

AFAIK it should play, no issues.

But, I've no personal experience of that.

Doesn't work on .mkv?
Do I need to convert it to something? Or use a different program?

Yep, mkv. won't work.
Convert them to MPG-2.

I don't know how to do that. I really don't know anything about video files.

I've always used VLC and it plays 99% of my media.
I have a PS3 and I'm freeing up some space by burning it.
My HDD and removable devices are too large to back up.

smile.gif

EDIT:
I just googled it and can't find anything that doesn't require some random software. I don't want to download and install a bunch of trial software with bloatware just to find out it doesn't work.
Thanks for helping.

I believe you can use Freemake Video Converter (freeware) to convert the MKV straight to a MPEG-2 or DVD. My cousin wanted me to make a DVD for him and his player didn't accept a data disc. I was baffled for like half an hour until I found that program and could convert/burn directly to a DVD disc format.

Thanks, it works perfectly.
Lots of crapware bundles with it but you can custom install so it's 5 star IMO.
Thanks. thumb.gif

It's no problem. I was going through the exact same struggle a couple of months ago and was so frustrated about it tongue.gif. I'm glad it worked for you.
