Cheap build, case suggestion - Page 2

Hey, so I grabbed the Silverstone case, thanks for the suggestion! Hopefully it's compatible with my PSU (Superflower Amazon 650w Bronze).

I also grabbed an Asus H61M-G. This one here. I'm pretty sure it's compatuble with the G1610 Celeron. I'm also considering grabbing a 2500K second hand, my question is, will the Asus board support voltage control on either of those CPUs? It's not a "Z77" boards so AFAIK, it won't support overclocking in terms of unlocked multipliers.

Would I be correct in this statement? Thanks guys!

It may not fit.

It is.

I wouldn't do any overclocking on this board. It simply is not built for it. No VRM cooling or proper phase control. It will however support the 2500k. Consider getting a better than stock cooler. Something that faces down and blows air across the motherboard.

I am aware the board will be weak for over clocking. I planned on running a mild overclock with a lower-stock-voltage, as many boards provide too much voltage when turboing, ao it's possible to run the chip at 1.1-1.2v (lower than turbo volts) while getting a faster than stock speed across all cores smile.gif

Thanks for your help, do you know if the board has voltage control? If I grabbed a 2500k would it have access to changing the multiplier?

It's a pity regardibg my PSU, I should have been more careful.

Thanks for your comprehensive answer smile.gif

The PSU is 15 x 18 x 8.5 cm, so it should be fine. Phew.

Just for clarification, I probably won't get an aftermarket cooler, I'm cobbling this together from old parts I have lying around and cheap components smile.gif Goal is to be as cheap as possible while still retaining functionality smile.gif
