And WOW has been going strong with millions of players for 10+ years. Sure it might be down to 5 million subs now, but that's still raking in 75,000,000 dollars every month, going by those numbers I'd say it's far from collapsing. I'm not a Blizzard fanboy by any means, just setting the record straight.
Why would you not milk a still very productive cash cow? I don't understand you people who use this argument.
It's a card game.
If they made a movie, it'd be based on the Warcraft franchise, unless they somehow made it about living cards!
Diablo 3 sold based on its predecessors. While it was not a bad game, and has improved, it is a far cry from Diablo II or I, in my opinion.
If half a structure collapses - whether or not it was enormous to begin with, it's still a collapse!
WoW has plenty of subscribers I know, more than any other Pay to Play out there if I recall and I'm sure the next expansion will be another shot in the arm. But that doesn't detract from the fact that every successive expansion since (including?) Cataclysm has been met with less love and numbers plummeting faster than before. While it could just be the age of the game and the kids that grew up with it, I would argue it's at least split evenly between gameplay changes - which no one can deny have been substantial - and age.
I would! But cows age and die. Are you still going to love the Diablo and WoW franchise ten years from now?
I never said this would be a flop or a fail, just lamented the lack of something new and the admittedly subjective feel that things have gone down hill.
