By that standard Duke Nukem Forever was a AAA title. Reused assets are often dated in quality, Just because it is "a completely fresh experience" does not make something a AAA title. With a number of AAA developers moving to the mobile market, the definition can't be company based. AAA refers to a level of quality investment and quality control, something on a level that exceeds that of TF2, and I'm not seeing that in Overwatch.

Really?

The game has me curious. How will it compare to Gigantic? How will the pay scale be 1-5 years down the line? Very important things to know.

Compared to a full on arena shooter yea the skill ceiling for aim is pretty low. Played with plenty of people over the years who sink thousands of hours into competitive CS 1.6 / CS:GO who still manage to stink it up big time when you put them into those guy kind games, especially Quake Live. They tend to be clueless as to how to handle the LG and keep the accuracy at 40% vs players who aren't moving in straight lines.

Know a few hackers too that had horrible track records when playing legit in arena shooters that went on to competing in CS:GO leagues and doing quite well. Their ol Joe aim isn't as much of a hindrance when you're not expected to land more than two shots.

Overvolted speaks the truth. Nobody wants to admit it but even a stupid free to play hat simulator game like TF2 has a higher pure aim/dm skill ceiling than CS. Movement speed is higher with advanced movement techniques, fights last longer and require you to actually look up. Go watch an Overwatch stream, you can BARELY air strafe in this game.

Overwatch appears to have many casual aspects to it because that's where the money is at. This game will be a huge success even with this price tag.

Or, being that this is Activision they simply cannot possibly give anything away for "free" so they will be charging $40 for a $10 game tongue.gif

And if you'd never heard of Titan you'd think it was a AAA title, so it's a AAA title.

I hardly call reused assets from a failed, now archaic attempt at an MMO grounds for giving a title AAA status. Quite the contrary, to be honest. I see it as evidence that one is not putting forth even a AA effort.

There is a reason why its a paid game. You cant restrict characters or abilities and have the same gameplay/balance. The game simply will not work without the entire cast. Its a team based game. Each character has some sort of counter to another. That is what the lead director is saying and it makes sense.

i want this to be a more tactical, slower paced shooter. i doubt it will be though. it would be cool to really embrace the potential rts angle you could do with this though. or team rts something like that
