[VentureBeat] Overwatch isn't free to play, will feature 21 heroes - Page 10

I think this is the first time I've seen people upset that a big game isn't going to be free 2 play.

i prefer payed over free to play. that's the problem with LOL, they have to constantly add and unbalance stuff for a buck.

granted dota 2 is f2p...but it's pretty much bait to install steam

That really isn't the big issue here. The problem is, they might be wanting to charge for future heroes or maps, which would be a huge issue dividing the player base.

They've also got Gearbox's BattleBorn to compete with, with is a very similar game. For some reason, GB has an NDA on the BB beta, so not many people are talking about it.

So Blizzard is a bad company for charging for a game? Horrible Logic.

I look forward to paying 60 dollars and enjoying this game.

Now nobody is going to try it until they get enough popularity which i see is not happening soon. biggrin.gif

I agree, micro transactions and a copycat hat type system, but mayne not hats, maybe like skins in general would have netted them more in the long term. I for one am not buying it, looks like a cartoon.

^This. If they had the f2p model then they would have a better chance of fishing people like you.

Yea, their doesn't seem to be a big appeal for experienced TF2 players to move to this game. Skill cap seems significantly lower, like junkrat is demoman without sticky launcher and with a jump ability that doesn't deal damage to yourself and has a cooldown.

Free to play first person shooter would just be flooded with cheaters, it's already bad enough in a cheap game like cs:go, but i think 60 dollars is a bit much.

I don't play many games, but this looks amazing. First time in a while that I want to play a beta.

$40 is the entry cost. If you like the skins, it totals to $60. After seeing the train wreck that is cod, i'll gladly pay to play Overwatch.

I don't get it.

For a couple years now, people have cried that the F2P model was the downfall of the pure gaming experience of yore and that it was a great tragedy that new gamers wouldn't know what a non-F2P was like one day.

And now that a AAA, big-name shooter, that has an about zero chance of not being a colossal success, isn't F2P, people are mad?
