Bruh, as long as you got good airflow in the vicinity of the drive, youll be a-ok.

Hello guys, I have one question aboout cooling Samsung 950 Pro:

Thanks a lot
Guys i need help.
Has anyone here had an issues with their 950 pro? I have it as my boot drive and had only 2 games installed. It seems to be crashing/freezing a lot on me. It started doing it while i played division, then it started with Overwatch. I can't seem to find anyone else that has had issues with their 950, so I'm really hoping its just something I did wrong. I've troubleshoot various components, drivers, windows and nothing seems to work. I can't seem to find anyone else who has this problem, since all reviews have been stellar for this device. I have found people having issues with win10 and overwatch, but then the freezing started to happen outside of game. I removed it and put my old samsung evo SSD back, and everything is back to normal.

my specs:
-Amd Gigabyte 990 fx gaming mobo with 8350.
-Gskill ripjaws 8 gb ram
-custom water cool loop
-AMD MSI r9 390
-m.2 950 pro 256gb
-850 evo 500gb
-840 evo 500gb
-corsair AX 760w

I've ran:
-sfc /scannnow
and it'll say "...found errors and repaired them"
Then it will crash again, but won't show errors.
-Magician says the drive is healthy.
-s.m.a.r.t results..not entirely to sure what i need to look for
-did clean install of win10 as well to no avail
-updated all drivers
-used command prompt to check the drive for errors, it came out zero

When i ran the m.2 as my secondary drive and used crystaldisk to run a benchmark on the m.2, screen froze again. I have only had it for a month, so I find this a little disheartening but **** does happen.
Is there any other advice you all can recommend for to me try? Any way to repair it? or will i have to contact Samsung to see if they will honor their warranty?

I have two Questions, If someone don't mind answering them.

1. Once formatted, How much free space do you have access to (512 GB)?
2. Is their a waterblock available for Samsung 950 Pro yet?

I have almost the same setup as you and i do not experience these problems.

1: have you installed the latest motherboard drivers?

2: have you installed the latest Samsung Nvme driver?

3: Is the driver over heating?

4: did you check in event viewer if there are any errors or warnings? It can be all kinds of things really. We need some more information about your system. Is it overclocked if so, how much and how are the temps etc. etc.

1: I did, there aren't many since the board just came out but they are all up to date.

2: I used both windows nvme driver and Samsung latest nvme driver, no change

3: How would i check if the driver is overheating? I have really good airflow so the m.2 should not overheat. I did touch it, but it wasn't concerned hot. HWmonitor also does not display the temps for the m.2 which I find strange. s.m.a.r.t did show it, but in kelvin and in hex and i feel it might be erroneous. I believe it showed something like 139.

4: I did check even viewer but they didn't show anything as far as where the problem lies. It did show some error in sync, and a couple of others ones. I looked them up and did the troubleshooting for them but that didn't make any change. I was OC to 4.5, but since clean install I've been running stock everything. Temps were always within normal ranges, nothing out of the ordinary. CPU: never over 40°C, GPU: never over 72, less when i started using Afterburner and made custom fan curve.

The only thing that worked was removing the drive from the mobo and using the previous boot drive which I never formatted in case this happened.
I did try to run the m.2 without any other drives, but it would still crash.
What is strange is after i did a clean install, and i turned off Killer NIC, I ran overwatch for like 2 or 3 hours with no issue. The next day i turn on pc again, run the game and freeze.

I ruled out: CPU, GPU, PSU, RAM. All have passed stress tests and or have been swapped out and problem will still persist.

Anything in particular as far as info that you would need to know?

Aqua Computer makes a PCIe adapter with a water cooled option.

For motherboard mounted M.2 I doubt we'll ever see any because there's just no mounting options or standard to where they go.

You did a whole lot of testing i see. How did you rule out your components if i may ask? After all this testing i starting to think its the 950 Pro that is faulty, there is no other way so i would start with RMA the SSD and if that doesn't do it i would RMA the Motherboard.
