According to Billy Tallis from Anandtech:

My point is, I made a post stating the page said something, now it says something else and I'm acknowledging my earlier post is now out of date information.

I've had a response from Samsung.

Fot the 960 PRO this SSD support AES, TCG and eDrive, but for using eDrive it need to be supported by the mainboard.

I have a motherboard that should support eDrive, I added the optional TPM to the header. You are right that until someone has a unit in their hands there can't be 100% certainty, but if Samsungs own tech support is correct, they have a PCIe/NMVe drive that does support it.

I'm aware of that quote, I responded to it a couple of pages back (post 1547)

Which Samsung support did you contact? The broken English makes me think not Samsung USA, cuz i asked US support about a few days ago via samsungmemorysupport@sea.samsung.com and they said:

"Thank you for contacting Samsung's Memory Support.

The plan to provide a firmware update for the 950 Pro, to enable TCG/OPAL and IEEE1667, has been put on hold due to the currently very restricted availability of commercial security software.

For the 960 Pro and 960 Evo, Samsung has not, as of yet, released information on whether they will come with the features enabled or be on hold like on the 950 Pro.

Thank you for contacting Samsung and have a nice day!"

I've gotten broken English from Samsung USA support (not to mention the people I dealt with were completely clueless).

Really? Were you in the right department? How'd you contact them? I used to call them, but i would get the same guy 4 out of 5 times, he gave me his email so i didnt have to keep calling in, turns out it was their assistant supervisor. He told me that i can email him or that memorysupport email, as he is the one who normally responds to emails sent to that email, and he's never steered me wrong.

I was using the UK site. It was submitted via the help form as a customer support request, including S/N & purchase date etc.
Response came from Samsung EMRS support

The response you got is the same as the (current) wording on the 950 spec document I linked a couple of pages back.

So no definitive answer yet, which isn't that surprising but was worth a shot.

It's been awhile so I don't remember how I contacted them. It was when I first got my Samsung printer and the thing wouldn't connect to my computer via WiFi using a USB cable as advertised. Both people I contacted didn't know their backsides from a hole in the ground and I wound up figuring out an alternate method of setting it up. Also, other times I contacted Samsung on how to get the printer to work in other ways advertised, they would just refer me to Samsung's useless directions that would tell me the printer could do something but not tell me how to get it to do it.

Oooo, ok. I thought you were specifically talking about the SSD dept. They're the only ones ive ever called Samsung about.

Did the people you speak broken english too? At least for SSDs, they told me they are located in New Jersey and all spoke English with no problem.

I asked one of the clowns where he was located and he claimed he wasn't allowed to say. I've had people in call centers for other manufacturers who were obviously not calling from the US claim that they were.

What board and what slot? If the PCIE slot is connected to the PCH (the southbridge / mobo chipset), even if it's PCIE 3.0 x4, it will be a bit slower than a PCIE 3.0 connected to the cpu.

As far the eDrive news, it sounds more optimistic, given that the same support source who confirmed eDrive support for 960 also acknowledged the lack of eDrive on 950.

I see Newegg has a listing for the 960 EVO and PROs already.

As I mentioned on my previous post, it's an ASUS Maximus VIII Formula and yes, it's the 3rd slot, since I was testing performance M.2 vs PCIe-adapter with SLI. redface.gif
