the option in this menu:

is disabled and grey out:

I always tought that after installing an NVMe device that option would be enabled, but not, it's still disabled.
is it enabled on your x99?

Just got my 950 Pro 256GB today, It's working great on my Z97 (w/ DT-120 adapter) and Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB 64-bit thumb.gif

It's kind of funny that the Samsung NVMe Driver changes the system so much that it De-Activated my Windows 10 Enterprise 2015 LTSB 64-bit after I installed it. biggrin.gif

In any case I can confirm that I don't see real world benefit for my usage.

I'm a software developer,
I use VMs but as every developer when developing I don't need hundred of vm's because you can develop using few nodes and once finished scale the software on many nodes but on the real production iron.
So for my professional use I don't see any improvements neither on VMs, for my home use the most intensive tasks I do is video encoding and this is CPU/GPU bound, not IO bound so neither here I see any improvements.
Loading software is snappy but not more than what it was in my 850 EVO.
Windows boot is slower.

Having the latest and the coolest is fine, but I think that every comment that says that the difference in real world home use is sensible is only a placebo or a way to justify the new toy.

Saied that I love my Samsung 950 PRO, it looks super awesome and having it in my case makes my PC more bad ass, but if you aren't an hardware junkie like us, save your money.

hi guys!

I have the same slow random iops. I figured out depending on the Speed of my ram, I get different results. I just have no clue why it is depended to the Speed of Memory

here are the results with Memory at 2400mhz vs 2666mhz. I have an Asus x99-pro board with i7 5960x
I also tested it same with the Microsoft Standard nvme Controller Driver and got slightly weaker results but also depending on ram Speed.

can anybody test and clock down Memory Speed to see if you have the same behaviour? anybody got a clue why Memory Speed has an effect on the Speed of the Samsung 950 pro?

beside that, I'm confused why Samsung magician is showing only 10gb/s for the PCIe Speed. But that must be displayed wrong i guess...

cheers!

opening apps is almost instant an upgrade over the 840 EVO.
after effects, light room, photoshop, visual studio 2013, android studio, vmware, office apps.
