It does has AES 256 Class 0 encryption, which is FDE and is activated by setting an ATA password in the BIOS.

They are going to add TCG Opal and E-Drive later with a FW update, like when they first released the 840 EVO.

Hi everyone,

I bought a 950PRO and am using it as the boot drive, running windows 10, everything is working perfectly, samsung nvme drivers installed etc.

I do have a question though, I have an Asus z97 pro and on the UEFI if you go to NVME configuration (or something among those words) and it shows nothing within and Speccy shows the following:

Is this normal? Although Samsung NVME drivers are installed, it shows on the Device Manager (it replaced the microsoft default ones) is it normal for the motherboard to not have anything inside NVME and for speccy to show unknown?

Cheers

If I want to migrate my data using the Samsung Data Migration software will I be forced to stay on MBR? I made the mistake of installing my OS on my SSD with Legacy + UEFI because the settings defaulted to that. Will I be able to format to GPT and then be able to boot via UEFI?

Paragon makes a migrate OS software that claims to incorporate UEFI, but I am not sure if it will eliminate the pre-existing MBR.

The 950 pro actually manages to saturate that single thread, creating a bottleneck.

If you want to test real performance, you could do so with CrystalDiskMark.
Once it's installed, go into Settings > Queues and Threads > Select 4 Threads for both Sequential and Random.

Then run the benchmark again, and see the improved performance thumb.gif

FYI - to convert from CrystalDiskMark's MB/s metric back to IOPS, you can use the following formula:

((speed in MB/s) / 4) * 1024

anyways, idk if its because of the type of ppl that come into our store, but is it just me, or are ppl that want the 950 PRO on Windows 7 the most annoying when it comes to explaining why the Windows 7 installer doesn't immediately see the 950 pro like Windows 8.1 and 10 do.

I spent 6 hours yesterday learning how to inject the Samsung NVME drivers into the the installation and create ISOs for each version of Windows 7 (home, pro, ultimate) just to shut these idiots up. BTW, NTLite is a godsend.

Also found out, base Windows 8 (non 8.1) CDs and ISO don't support NVME either, so i have to make ISOs for those too. I asked one customer to just grab a Windows 8.1 ISO and install that and for some reason he started cursing me out. SMH gunner2.gifgunner.gif

It seemed appropriate, since I usually spend my time on here trying to help people out (to varying degrees of success) thumb.gif

Has anyone tried injecting drivers into the Windows installation using WAIK and NTLite or something similar? Cuz i tried injecting the Hotfix Microsoft provides and if i inject it into Install.WIM and Boot.WIM, it causes my test system to bluescreen when loading the installation files, and if i just put the hotfix into the Install.WIM, Windows loads files fine, but doesn't detect the 950 pro, i still have to load the Samsung 950 Pro INF driver file.
