Unfortunately for your case, in order to track that kind of usage ALL software would have to come with a form of DRM. That isn't going to fly.
I also question the logic behind the argument that suddenly Gamers are all going to turn into thieves and start returning software after it is completed. That logic is insulting, and frankly, outright stupid. Anyone with the intent of stealing software isn't going to use the resources to do what you are talking about. They will just go download a pirated version in a fraction of the time, and have it "forever".
So, as with other products/goods, there is no reason to not have a return policy. There is no argument, at any level, against consumer protection in the software industry.

As someone with a Single 780 Ti at 1440P, results like this are no indication of the cards performance. Rather, a direct indication of shoddy development and/or management practices.
