My neighbors who have roommates hit their cap every second week of the month. Their bill jumps from $150 to $300 often. buttkick.gif

You should probably suggest they pay the additional 35 bucks a month to get "unlimited" rather than paying an additional 150 in overages.

That said, screw Comcast.

So glad from what I've heard ATT Uverse doesn't enforce their datacaps. Moving to a new place shortly that has the new Gigapower service they're offering. It's $110/month for 1000mbit and a datacap sure would mess that up if I chose to really use the bandwidth at my disposal.

This "Data Usage Plan" garbage reeks of the same garbage Enron was spewing when they were purposely causing blackouts out west in inflate electricity prices.

Well, in all fairness, the American people need to remove the Internet lines and servers from these big telecoms and rent usage back to them.

Yeah these limits are getting more and more egregious.

Sadly, Class Action is off the table, all ISP customers have signed that away and its legal. So it is going to have to be the FCC to deal with this stuff.

If there is a limit here, Comcast doesn't enforce it. I used 2 TB last month and nothing out of the ordinary happened. I don't know what I would do if they started enforcing a cap here... The only internet options here are Comcast, ~2mbps Verizon DSL, and dial up (yes, people still use dial up around here).

About the same here but DSL is 15 Mbps max (not that much better). No caps here in MA that I know of but technically we have caps, they've just been suspended indefinitely (i.e. if you look at your usage page it will say the cap is currently not enforced).

It exactly the same where I live. I would love nothing better than to kick Concast to the curb, then take a nice big steaming ........., but unfortunately they're the only game in town.

This really is only Comcast trying to protect Cable Television. Most users only worry about hitting data caps when streaming video and Comcast wants as much of a barrier to streaming as they can get away with.

Not fairness, not congestion, simply using their effective monopoly to protect an out dated business model. This is exactly what the FCC is supposed to prevent, a government enforced monopoly needs to be regulated to prevent exactly this kind of abuse, so I don't understand why nothing is being done (well OK, I do understand ($$) but I don't understand how they can get away with it).
