The battery life in tablet form is about half. the extra GPU isn't much more than a GTX 940m so very very weak. The price of it kills the deal honestly. You don't gain a whole lot otherwise

Not the base model. The lowest end dgpu model is around $800 more than the models OP is looking at in the Canadian Microsoft store. That is a pretty huge difference in cost.

Yea, the main issue with the Surface Book in my opinion was the price especially coming from Canada. The exchange rate for us is really bad so things are significantly more expensive up here than it is in the States. Even then, the Book is very expensive in both countries. I looked up the stats of the Book with the dGPU and it seemed like it was barely any better. I felt as though spending the extra $1000 could be better spent on my desktop where I can make it purely for higher end calculations like CAD. I just need a tablet that can operate during class / when I'm on campus for Word/Excel/Notes and occasionally do some minimal CAD work in the case I need to while I'm on campus. And as Cuddles said, the same specs between the Pro 4 and the Book had a huge price difference which was unjustifiable with just the screen difference.

I ended up buying the Surface Pro 4 with an i7 and 8GB RAM for about $1700. I felt it was a decent buy, but then the costs kind of added on when I got the warranty and Type Cover with it. I got the bundle because those 2 were already costly and getting a free case + copy of Office 365 in addition to the same cost was worth it.

Hopefully this purchase shows to be worth the cost! smile.gif
