(old school) EVGA FTW3 reads 12 gb of memory, 7.99 available.

Thread Starter
Windows 10 x64
12gb of 1600mhz g.skill tri-channel memory. 9-9-9-24, 6x2gb
i7 860 stock clocked, but I'd OC if I can fix this issue.

  • Updated BIOS.
  • Tried these: https://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?topicid=40&faqid=58783
  • Tried raising CPU VTT and DIMM voltage
  • Tried running XMP and standard, overclocked and stock.
  • A few times I either changed a setting that made it boot with 3.99 available memory. I tried to replicate or change a singular setting to see what caused that but I almost think it was just a fluke. Also happened right after I flashed the bios.
  • Tried a bunch more random stuff I can't recall.
  • Loaded defaults many times.

Trying to get this PC Fallout 4 ready for someone, please help biggrin.gif.

Have you tried each stick individually to make sure they all work? Was the computer dusty before you started working on it? I would be looking at a hardware issue like a bad stick of RAM or perhaps dust in the RAM slot/bent pins/bad motherboard slot. I don't know if there are any specific settings governing the RAM channels that may need to be changed but that info should be in the motherboard manual. This of course is if it isn't registering the RAM in BIOS.

If it reads in BIOS and not in the OS then you have an OS issue.
