Caselabs TX-10 or Mountain Mods Ascension Extended with Water Barrel 24

Thread Starter
I have a 900D and I find it much too tiny. I am looking for space for more 480 rads as well as more gpus(Currently have 3 gpus, looking to have upgrade space for at least 6 or more like a mining rig). Having a horizontal motherboard is a plus.

I'm considering either the Caselabs TX-10 or Mountain Mods Ascension Extended with Water Barrel 24.
The way I see it:

Caselabs pros:
Slide out motherboard tray
Higher quality aluminum
Screwless panels
Bigger

Mountain mods pros:
Horizontal MB
Can fit alot more GPUs (I actually emailed the mountain mods guy and he said he could fit a golddigger pci backpanel for me like in a mining rig style and that means I could fit alot more) (Major +)
Looks alot better IMHO

Any feedback is appreciated.

I think you'll find that the TX10 is more robust and plug & play than the Ascension, which trades those for a more open design, so it's really up to your build requirements as to which will fit your needs best. As for the aesthetics, beauty is in the eye of the beholder wink.gif

It was pretty gross the way the "eyeball" plopped out when you killed those, wasn't it.

This thread is a couple of months old but I wanted to pipe up since I have 3 MM Ascensions (actually one serves as parts for the other two and now a TX-10, both are great cases and in our case, the horizontal mounting option with the high GPU count would probably give the MM case the nod. However, I just received the TX-10 (got it just before they stop production) and I must say it is overall better designed.

MM has a more open design with mounting components integrated into the skin of the case, the CL case on the other hand has the nice, slick screwless/clip-on panels and the drop in side mounts as well as the flex bay design gives it a more professional, cleaner look.

Both cases are really open for modding, I truly believe this is the utility of both.

This is likely a moot point for the mega cases though as CL has stopped selling the TX-10. My current build is going to be a monster workstation rig and a high HD count NAS built into the other side (of a dual rig case). When looking at cases I was considering the Lian-Li PC-D8000 and the TX-10. The MM Ascension can mount enormous amounts of hard drives, but their HD mounts are cumbersome as I mentioned their mounting systems are built to latch on to fans which mount directly to their skins/panels. I decided on the TX-10 and so far I am very pleased.

You are correct, the CL cases use thicker and, what I would say is sturdier, Al, though both cases are extremely sturdy the TX-10 feels like a true tank.
