[NVIDIA] 358.91 WHQL Fallout 4 Game-Ready Driver - Page 6

Anyone else noticed that by default now Nvidia sets refresh rate to app controlled instead of highest available in global settings? At least using my Gsync 144Hz monitor it's set like this.

Found that amusing since Fallout 4 would be a program that won't like running above 60 fps.

I works for me, but, just something I noticed.

Disable Reenabled gsync n it will change back.

Fallout 4 issue atm is just 4k@60.
Theres alot of cards blazing it at 100fps for reso lower than 4k.

Wasn't a problem for me. I set most of my games to app controlled and run at 60 fps to keep it cooler in my computer room. Damned winter hitting and I can't get away with turning the AC to 70 to keep it cool in here.

What I mean is by default it had set it to highest available. This would cause games like Skyrim to run above 60 fps and glitch the game out. If Fallout 4 is the same, then to avoid issues I could see them sneaking in that setting so that it would run at 60 fps instead of above.

I haven't tested Fallout 4 above 60 though. Will have to admit that while I don't mind 60 fps in a lot of game types, FPS is the one spot it bothers me after being used to running higher fps in them.

As for performance, it runs 1440p maxed at 60 fps easily so far. I even tested it streaming over my new Steam Link and it ran like butter.

Anyone else unable to OC their monitor after installing these? Test keeps failing when trying to make a custom resolution in NVCP.

couple of us yes.

I always used the DDU clean install but for windows 10 that stopped working for me after .50

I rolled back to .50 set my custom refreshes and then did the upgrade over the top method and now i'm on the new drivers and still have my oc refresh rate. Try that, should work.

Not sure what's changed since the .50s but thats last known good one that still maintained that ability on windows 10 for me.

Glad to see it's not just me then! Maybe it's DDU that causes it since I was on 355.82 previously but used DDU to install these 358's.

Will try your method later thanks!

Probably not. (Would have been fixed now as Wagnard's on top of it). You're probably the 10th person I've seen mention it out of the blue and say the exact same thing which other drivers work.

maybe i just blind but I can not see a difference between low and ultra godrays at 4k? was thinking it was a driver issue but maybe its just not noticeable at 4k?

Just turn it to low. The difference between that and anything else is hardly noticeable and not worth the frame hit.

If it's cool outside, open a window.lol

Anything above 60fps is a bad idea as the speed of the game is tied to fps.
