I expected hit/miss performance with this being a Bethesda game and all, but this is just bad. Hoping for a hotfix or driver updates soon from both sides

Regardless of AMD clearly doing bad here (wasn't unexpected to be honest knowing bethesda and nvidia's relationship overall) the game itself doesn't look good and yet the performance is worse off than games that look much better.. like GTA V for example.

I can excuse less than stellar graphics, but the performance for the visuals offered is a joke at it's current state. Nvidia or AMD.

Meh, no surprises here. Not only is it a gameworks title, but Bethesda's creaky DX9-era engine has always been particularly sensitive to driver overhead.

Yep. I hope Bathesda will learn to make real DX11 games by the time they release next Elder Scrolls game rolleyes.gif

Looking at these results again, things are definitely funky.


  • 770 is like 2x as fast as a 760 at 1440p, yet it's almost the same as the 780 TI. What? headscratch.gif
  • 960 is relatively slow at all resolutions compared to its Maxwell brothers
  • 390X is matching a 770
  • Fury/FuryX performance goes WAY up as resolution rises
  • Yet the game isn't completely CPU limited, as the 980 TI is soaring above everything else.

I'm so sick of seeing this. PC gaming has been incredibly disappointing lately and it makes me sad to see the trend continuing.

I'm torn because I've been waiting years for this game but I feel like I should cancel my preorder on principle.

Not what I said. It was directed to the part where he thinks GW has nothing to do with it. Of course it does, it has always had a part in it. Just as AMD software has the same part for Nvidia hardware.

Shows you what a sorry state PC gaming is in when we need to install drivers every time a new game drops. Pcars, Arkham Knight, actually i won't even bother typing out the Gameworks titles that keep coming out broken, keep defending it.

I've said it before, but i hope AMD do the same thing with Gaming Evolved titles. I mean why not? Lets segregate PC gaming even more, that way every other game can come out broken, and punish a consumer based on one component of his system..

It may get worse for AMD.
Nvidia released Geforce drivers 358.91 for Fallout 4 few hours ago but took them offline again due to maybe some problems with installer etc.
The result in this thread is from older drivers (358.87).
