Gotcha. My mistake.

Seeing as how this is the only game I have cared about in the last year, I don't much care about these results except for the fact it runs well for my gpu choice. Other than that I can see people being upset about the performance.

Those charts look very similar to the Anno 2205 performance charts by TPU. Is AMD holding back performance optimizations for the new Crimson drivers so everyone is WOW when they are released? thinking.gif

Well, I wasnt going to get it anyway so I dont care much other than like other people have mentioned, both Nvidia and AMD just segregate the PC gaming sector with their pointless software.

Yeah, sure thing, because a GTX 770 competes with a 390x in every other title out there..

Shows you what a sorry state PC gaming is in when we need to install drivers every time a new game drops. Pcars, Arkham Knight, actually i won't even bother typing out the Gameworks titles that keep coming out broken, keep defending it.

I've said it before, but i hope AMD do the same thing with Gaming Evolved titles. I mean why not? Lets segregate PC gaming even more, that way every other game can come out broken, and punish a consumer based on one component of his system..

Those games don't come out broken because of GW. Blame the incompetent developers/publishers. Your initial complaint was that 770 performs close to 290X. It's because 290X is bottlenecked by AMD's own driver. Everybody knows that. Haven't you seen AoS benchmarks and how bad AMD's DX11 performance is? Also, GW effects are optional, they can be disabled, and as long as this is the case, I'm fine with it. Some of them perform bad on AMD because they're based around strengths Nvidia's hardware has. Some perform just fine on AMD.

GameWorks strikes again. Well, at least Nvidia didn't cripple the old cards' performance on this title.

I already did and way better than your opinion. If you think GW has nothing to do with it, well, I suggest you go and do some research. Even all the driver overhead fixing wouldnt fix GW somewhat gimping AMD and the other way around. But try to act edgy, it surely works.

Edit: And thankfully, I dont have to ask your permission to post or not. smile.gif

This "AMD driver overhead" is BS IMO. If this was such a major problem it would be seen in almost every game. But it isn't.

It's true that it does hit lower end CPUs but not high end i7.

Also the game seems to be CPU demanding but that shouldn't mean that it will be instantly worse on AMD if you have i7. There are games that are heavily multithreaded but this "AMD Driver overhead" thing doesn't cause problems as big as this.

GTAV, TW3 and SWBF seem to be nicely multithreaded. TW3 even shows FPS increase if you have better CPU and yet the performance Nv/AMD is balanced as it should be.

This exact "AMD driver overhead" phenomenon can be seen in 1 other game as well. PCars. And guess what connects it? Nvidia! #PutsTinFoilConspiracyHatOn

I don't think AMD drivers do absolutely nothing to add to this the overhead is bad but not bad enough to cause stuff like this. Maybe they'll improve it but there is definitely a fault on Bethesda lazyworks as well.

Another thing: Am I the only one who thinks that the performance is not so good given how bad the game looks?
Let's get real here. I highly doubt a visually dated DX11 title is pushing enough draw calls to bottle neck an R9 290 to the point where it's performing like a GeForce 770. If it were that bad, you'd see the R9 290 performing that bad in every modern title.

AoS is a unique game that pushes a lot of draw calls - many more than conventional DX11 titles, which brings out AMD's DX11 overhead weaknesses.

I can excuse less than stellar graphics, but the performance for the visuals offered is a joke at it's current state. Nvidia or AMD.

These are pre release benchmarks. Give it time. Performance will likely improve 20-50% within the next two or three driver releases.

Anybody remember how poorly GTA V ran on release? What about Crysis, battelfied, COD and others? Par for the course. If you need to play it maxed right now buy a high end nvidia card, otherwise chill out for a couple of months and then buy the game when the drivers improve.
