Partly, who the hell makes an open world game these days that runs only on two cores?

As far as I can tell, the game won't run higher than 100Hz.

My monitor can display information on refresh rate and it says 1920x1080p @ 120hz in fullscreen mode.

some people say it runs only on 2 cores, can you confirm?

Not without owning the game. I would definitely put the game through some rigorous testing.

It's you yourself who implicated the 1080p performance in your first comment. You're confusing two things there, that higher CPU overhead would automatically mean that 980 should perform lower than 390X and not that it should perform even better.

(showing that CPU limitations don't play a role in that discrepancy).

You're begging the question.

This completely invalidates any notion of the 980 somehow being the one with higher CPU overhead due to the Gameworks off results having a lesser advantage over the 390X. What you're doing is beyond cherrypicking, it's flat-out ignoring direct evidence to the contrary and arguing some vague point I never made. I commented on a CPU limitation and you're just making incomprehensible points that have nothing to do with it.

As I said, the direct evidence you see is not so fairly obvious. CPU overhead and front end bottlenecks have the same symptoms with easing at higher resolutions.

Quote:
PClab covered it; CPU limitation, according to their results. Regardless, I'm not sure what you'd expect to see with the Fury X. It's had a lion's share of low resolution scaling indicating that it, being even more powerful than Hawaii, is even more likely to be impacted by AMD's factually-occurring CPU overhead issues.

980 does better than the Fury cards here all across to the 4k resolution.

Game runs great @1440p ultra, don't know what r ppl complaining about. It's also smooth as it can get, with free sync even more so. I don't think my frames dropped below FS range (36 fps). And AMD still haven't released drivers for the game.
Surprisingly I was able to run it just fine maxed out at 4k. I turned off AA and motion blur of course. There were some small slowdowns in heavily wooded areas, but other than that it was smooth as butter. I had one freeze and a couple bugs, but all-in-all, not too shabby for the first day!

Also had to edit an .ini to turn v-sync off. iPresentInterval 0. Got rid of the input lag, and the tearing was hardly noticeable and seemed to get better the more I played.

Some console commands are still the same as FO3/NV. It's hit or miss, just have to try until we have an official list.

Gripes:

The pip boy flashlight is green! Not sure if the color is changeable but it's kind of distracting.

No hunger/thirst/sleep, and no hardcore mode! "survival mode" only makes enemies harder and stimpaks heal slower. It's kind of a joke and a huge disappointment for me. Now all of the "junk" you find is useful for settlements, but all of the food/drink/beds are useless to your character. Eat food because your character is hungry? Nah, food/drink is only good for HP now. Give me back my hunger! It kills the immersion without it. It's a facet of realism this game desperately needs back. Food is only useful if you run out of stimpaks. It's a joke in my eyes.

The dialogue choices are extremely watered down and simplified. I do not get the feeling that I'm actually talking to the NPC's like I did with FO3/NV, and that kills the RPG element for me. Less choices are not a good thing for dialogue. The conversations are short and it feels scripted and linear which is exactly what you don't want in a FO game. Hugely disappointed there.

I'm still having fun with it. But I can't stop thinking how much more fun I could be having.

Oh yeah, can't forget the textures. They are the most inconsistent textures I've ever seen. I stared at a texture that looked horrible (like minecraft horrible) and it was directly next to a good looking high res texture. Uhh, what?

BUT to Bethesda's credit, I think it's partly a problem with LOD's loading correctly. I was standing still and saw LOD textures change back and forth from high res to low res, and then it stopped on the low res texture, so I think LOD textures are bugged ATM.
