Just joined, my first thread here.. Have been reading around and what not. redface.gif

Decided to build my first desktop. I've taken apart older pcs headed for the trash in the past, yet I've never really "built one". (Installing ram doesn't really count biggrin.gif)

With that said, I'm going to log my build here. Hopefully this is the right place.

ps. I'm also jotting down the prices I've paid so you have an idea of what the aggressive budget build looks like.

HARD DRIVE:

Samsung SSD 850 Pro 256GB

At the moment these additional parts new would put me well over $800 on the ABB build.

However, with Black Friday coming up, I'll figure something out. wink.gif

Modding

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

1. The Evga Micro2 X99 Motherboard won't fit in the Hardon Air without modification. (Only Mini ITX)

Either the metal connector on the hard drive bay will need to get pushed in, or the entire hard drive bay area will need to be removed.

I've read you must remove the PSU either way and re-install AFTER putting the motherboard.

2. Plan on sleeving all the cables with PET braid. (Another first for me) Waiting for the case to arrive so I can figure out how many wires there are total and what size length each one is.

3. I've seen the CRYORIG R1 cooler done before in the Hardon Air, but I'm leery it won't fit. May need to mod the case as well to fit that.

Realized the R1 was the wrong model. redface.gif

Picked up a CRYORIG C1 ITX Top Flow Cooler instead.

($70.00) $62.00

Not much of a deal, but that's the lowest I could find available.

Love my C1 cooler, it was almost a shame to replace it with a custom loop!

Did you mod it thought it was only available in white?

Nice! Haven't gotten mine in the mail yet.

Would like to modify it though, still trying to choose a color scheme.

This will be a mostly all-black build. Considering teal/aqua blue accents though for cables/etc.
